REVIEW – “A tropical themed puzzle game that will test your knowledge of Physics!”
There are a number of puzzle games out there that use physics to increase the challenge or to give you an idea of how the different parts will work together. Tiki Totem allows you to work against gravity in order to protect a tiki idol that is treasured by the gods.
The game is simple enough, all you have to do is tap the gray blocks in the right order to get the tiki to safely drop. If you don’t tap the bricks in just the right order, the tiki falls to the ground and breaks, angering the gods. So unless you want to be running from a river a lava, you better learn physics and fast.
There are a number of different puzzles and as you move through the game you will encounter a wide range of different types of blocks. For example black blocks cannot be broken and the light purple blocks can only be broken by coming in contact with another purple block.
There are 80 different levels in this game so it will definitely keep you occupied for awhile because as you progress through the game the levels get very difficult.
Like many games these days this game is set up to work with OpenFeint and this allows you to unlock different achievements and compare your score with other players. This is a nice feature to have to sort of add that excitement and competition feel to a puzzle game.
I was very impressed by how fluid everything was and the physics in the app appear to be spot on, which is always nice and sometimes hard to find. The graphics were colorful and fun, and I must admit that it was always fun to erupt the volcano. The music through got old and repetitive very quickly, the sound effects were great but there was only so much of the background music that I could take.
I enjoy puzzle games of this type and I usually tend to measure puzzle games by how long my husband will sit and tolerate them, or get frustrated with them. This one kept his attention for much longer than I expected, because in many ways it is very unique and challenging.
Give it a try, there is a light version if you want to try it out before you buy.
