REVIEW – “An old classic reborn on a new platform!”
I remember years ago going to the arcade in the mall and the Simpsons was one of my favorite games. While this is not an exact replica of the original arcade game, the gameplay is extremely similar. If what you have been waiting for is a great arcade experience on the iPhone/iPod Touch platform then this may be the game you’ve been looking for!
When you open this game there is a brief animation of someone putting a
quarter in arcade machine and the EA logo. Once you get through that and touch the screen you will be taken to the menu. I kind of wish that the intro was a little shorter or that you could skip at least part of it. The main menu has several options, including 
the ability to set what music you listen to from within the game. This option allows you to select any music from your iPod app instead of listening to the default music in the game.
Once you get everything set up you can either start a “New Game” or continue a game that you have previously started. Once you get into the main game the controls are pretty much just like the classic Simpson’s Arcade game. You have a “joystick” on the left side of the screen and two buttons on the right side of the screen. The top button jumps and the bottom button attacks. There are several different combinations that you can learn to use with these controls to do different kinds of attacks as well.
One of the things that I was a little bit disappointed with this game is that the original arcade game 
allowed you to control several different characters. In this game you only get to control Homer, but the story is new and is original so that makes up for the lack of playable characters. As you progress through the game you do get to see other characters such as Marge, Bart and Lisa as they help Homer out in various different ways.
The graphics and sounds in this game are top-notch and really took me back to the days of playing the original Simpsons Arcade 
game. Some of the mini games from the arcade game are also included in between levels which adds even more variety to the game play! The story is really a lot of fun though. The basic idea is that some important information gets hidden in a donut that Homer sees and then has stolen from him. Homer decides to retrieve it because he figures it must be an amazing donut if they wanted it so bad!
As you make your way through this arcade style game, through several different areas, you will be confronted with all different kinds of assailants with a little bit of humor thrown in as well! While this game may seem a little pricey for $4.99 in the App Store, I can guarantee that you will get some laughs and a whole lot of good classic arcade fun! So what are you waiting for?
