REVIEW – “Now you can watch TED right on your iPhone!”
TED has been presenting innovative ideas for 25 years now and these talks are always monumental and insightful. Now with this brilliant, easy to use app, you can talk this influential speeches with you, wherever you go.
TED is always my first stop on any day when I am bored and I want to expand my mind. There is always something interesting and very often I find talks from people that I have been researching or whose research I greatly admire. These talks have been used countless times in my graduate and undergraduate classes as a way to hear and see the people we were studying speak out about exactly what we were learning.
This app is perfect in the way that everything is intuitive. The app automatically opens to the Home page which features the latest talks and additions to the site. But from there you can easily navigate to the video and audio section and search for talks on any topic. You will rarely come up empty.
For example I simply keyed in “Africa” and I found numerous talks on topics that were important to Africa today. I even found a speech by someone who research I had closely followed and even used as a basis for some of my own research. It was amazing to see and hear him speak and voice his ideas in a way that was easily accessible to everyone and not just people in the field.
That is what makes TED so great the topics may be difficult and hard to understand but you will rarely have trouble following the speeches and the dialogue that is opened up by these amazing people. I can open a video on a topic that I have no background in and not only be able to understand the speech itself but understand why it is so insightful and innovative.
This app also gives you the option to add speeches to your favorites, share them with others or just keep scrolling through the multitude of speeches and talks that are constantly being updated. No matter what your interest may be you will find talks that you will find interesting.
I love TED and I love this app that allows me to take the videos everywhere, best yet it’s completely free!”
