I couldn’t be happier that games like Sushi Go Round are coming to mobile devices. Some of the best, and most popular, web-based games are the Time Management or ‘Food Service’ type games. From cakes, candies, burgers and now sushi, these challenging fast paced games are perfect for the iPhone platform.
Going into this review, I have to admit, I have plaid Sushi Go Round in the past, and loved it. Miniclip.com has a great selection of free to play flash games, and I’ve wasted entirely too much time playing their addictive games. So, I’m really quite pleased that Sushi Go Round has come to the iPhone. I’m even more pleased that the game play is easily enough to handle on the small screen, and the artwork is just top-notch.
If you’re not familiar with Time Mangement style games, let me give you a walk through for Sushi Go Round. The premise is that you own a sushi restaurant. You will have customers come in, and you’ll need to give them a menu, make their order properly, from a wide range of sushi items. The items need to be made a specific way, so you have your Recipe Book always handy to check in on how to make your sushi rolls. They start of pretty simple, and can get complex, not to mention that the customers start ordering multiple items, too. If you create an item wrong, you’ll send out a plate of gray mush, and waste your inventory – so be careful!
To start off, you can play either in Story mode or Rush mode, if you just want a quick round, or want to practice. Other aspects of the game include needing to order new items in (Rush Delivery or Regular Delivery?), giving impatient customer some Sake to calm them down, and cleaning up after the customers. You have a monetary goal each day, and a time limit by which you need to complete your day. It’s pretty strait forward although there are quite a few elements, once you get your pattern down, it’s very fun. I know there is a big audience for this sort of game and most of them are really good at playing quickly – you don’t have to worry about the App being laggy, I was pretty swift with my sushi ingredient selection and it kept up pretty well.
As you can see from the screenshots, the artwork on this is beautiful. It’s not very often you see such polished cartoons and detailed animation from a 99 cent App. They could easily charge more, but since the market really is saturated with games, I completely understand why it’s so inexpensive. However, I also really hope that they work on, and release an iPad version because this game would be beautiful and more easily played on a larger screen.
It’s absolutely worth downloading and trying, even if you’re not sure, head over and try the Web Version, if you (like me) become quickly addicted, then click below to download this fun, fast, cute App.
