Review – “Replace your old graphing calculator with your iPhone!”
If you’ve gone shopping for a graphing calculator any time recently
you know how expensive they can be. Even a cheap one can easily be $40-50. Well thanks to Pomegranate Software, you can now turn your iPhone into an amazing graphing calculator that is simply packed with features! The
great thing is that not only will you have an amazing and fast calculator, but it will only cost you $19.99!
Now I know a lot of people are sitting here thinking that $20 is too much for an iPhone App. If any app is worth that much, I think this one will be worth it for people taking advanced courses in mathematics, or working in a field where they need one regularly. This app is great for people that understand graphing calculators, and it also offers plenty of information on how to use it properly if you’ve never used one before!
When you open up SpaceTime the first
thing you’ll see is a keypad at the bottom of the screen and a menu at the top. The main area of the screen will have a blank text box with the number “1″ to the left of it. This is where you’ll enter in your formulas to get quick answers/graphs.
One of the first things I did was go through the tutorials that explained how to use the various functions. The walkthroughs are thorough and easy to follow. They also cover everything from basic math and algebra, all the way down to scripting, functions and 3D graphing! While I don’t claim to be a wiz on advanced mathematics, I did not notice any problems at all with the results that I got from this calculator. I did notice in the comments section
for this app that a few people had noticed some relatively small problems with this app, but the developer apparently has done a good job of updating this app regularly!
The file system for this app is simple and is accessed by touching the “Menu” button at the top of the screen. To save a project you’ve been working on you can use the “Save” or “Save As” button. You can then start a new project or “Open” a project that you’ve been working on previously.
If you’d like to bring in files from your desktop you can do so using the “Transfer Files” option in this same menu. You’ll need to be on the same WiFi network as the computer you want to transfer from with your iPhone/iPod. To connect and transfer files all you have to do is open a web browser and point to the URL that
comes up when you touch the “Transfer Files” option.
While this app obviously has a more limited market than a lot of apps in the App Store, I would say that this is probably an invaluable app to someone that finds it useful! I had absolutely no problems with load times, crashes or glitches while testing this app.
This app really goes beyond your typical graphing calculator as well. How? By allowing you to interact with the graphs that you generate by touching them! I could go on and on about this app, but If you’re still reading this review, let’s just say that you’re probably not going to find a better graphing calculator than this in the App Store. $20 is also a whole lot cheaper than $50-100 for a real one! So what are you waiting for? Save yourself some money and avoid having another item to carry around. Head to the App Store and grab your copy of SpaceTime today!

This isn’t a “review”, it’s an advertisement with an attached affiliate link to grab commision on any resulting sales.
I have no problem with affiliate links if someone has put in at least a little effort into a proper review, eg. provided some proper critical analysis, good and bad points, comparison with possible alternatives etc. None of that is included here. It’s just a blatent puff piece, cheaply delivered in the hope of a few dollars commision.
Gives us a pretty clear impression of the integrity of the author, and the “quality” we can expect from the rest of his output.
Goodbye.
Think what you want, but I felt that the app was very useful and my review reflects that opinion. I do my best to represent whether I think an app is something that serves the purpose it was designed for and this one, in my opinion, is an excellent graphing calculator. As I stated in the review, I personally have no use for one now having graduated quite some time ago. With that said, I would have loved to have had this when I was in high school
.
As far as the affiliate links, yes we use them and what review site doesn’t? I don’t specifically just puff up a review to try and get people to buy it because that would be stupid. You’ll notice that I take a similar tone with both paid and free apps and we make nothing on free ones. With time my writing has evolved and I believe I’ve become more critical of even small points that I like/dislike (this review is over 3 months old as of the time this comment was posted), with that said I never give positive feedback to an app that in no way deserves it.
I’m happy to see that you gave us a shot and came to read our reviews, and sorry to see that you won’t be returning.
