REVIEW – “The easy way to add contact info!”
If you’re like many business people today, you probably have to stay in touch with a lot of people. There are many ways to try and keep track of that info, but very few of them are easy. Because of this most people still keep business cards of associates and acquaintances lying around. Well if you’d rather keep a more streamlined electronic database then you may be interested in ScanBizCards Business Card Reader!
Of all the business card readers I have seen, this one probably has the most “no-frills” approach to it that I have seen. When you open up the app you are presented with a simple menu with just three buttons. One is a help screen 
that will walk you through some basic information on how to take the best quality photos for scanning. The other two buttons allow you to either select an existing photo to scan or take a new one.
If you decide to take a new photo you will see a pop-up note that tells you the best way to take your photo to ensure accurate scanning. If you don’t want to see this message every time you open the app to 
scan photos just touch the “Don’t Show Again” button in the message and you’ll never see it again.
While it may seem like an obvious addition to an app like this, the option to use already existing photos instead of taking them within the app actually is what sets this app apart from many business card readers on the market! If you would rather use the iPhone’s default camera app to snap a picture real quick and scan it later you can with this app!
As with all business card scanner apps its success is going to hinge on whether the scanning is accurate. I tested this app on several different business cards. I used simple cards with mainly black text on a white background, and more complex cards with exciting backgrounds and all kinds of images on them.
What I found is that the scanning in this app is accurate enough to be useful, but there is definitely still room for 
improvement. The speed of the scans were also very good as long as you were careful to take clear pictures. With that said I would not recommend this app to someone that wants to use their iPhone 3G or 2G’s camera to take the pictures. Without the autofocus camera you’re just not going to get clear enough pictures to get accurate results.
Once you get your card scanned the interface for modifying the results and setting “filters” before you export the contact info is very good as well, and it even allows you to add custom fields if some of the information was not recognized. 
It would have been nice if it used an interface more similar to the traditional iPhone “Contacts” app, but it does what it is designed for and is not difficult to figure out.
In the constantly moving world of business time is precious. If you have been looking for a good solution for consolidating your contact information electronically you won’t go wrong with this app by ScanBiz Mobile Solutions. Best of all it’s not going to break the bank either because you can get it in the App Store for just $4.99! That is a fraction of what it costs to get most business card scanning suites on a traditional computer platform! So what are you waiting for?
