SAT Visual Vocab is a study app for learning and understanding the words and definitions that will most likely be a part of your SAT Test. Although obviously its use is not limited to this, its geared towards high school kids who want to brush up on their vocabulary and study before the big test.

There are two modes to study. The first is to learn the words contained in the App, of which there are 1040. To start you can always watch the How-To video included within the App. While this App is quite large (over 300Mb) there’s a good reason behind it. To accompany every single word there is an audio file while not only provides you with the pronunciation, but also gives a detailed description of the word, and several uses in everyday sentences.

In the Study Words mode, you can manually flip through, choosing the words (they are listed in alphabetical order) to read up on, or by hitting ‘Play’ the App will read you the word, the definition and description of each, and move on to the next. This is great if you want to have some refresher information while you’re not able to view the App itself. Just put on the Audio guide and put in your pocket, go about doing whatever you were going to do – and you’ll be studying while you complete your daily tasks.

Once you feel like you have a good grasp on the words that are in the App – you can go on into the Quiz Mode and select groups of words to study. You’ll be given multiple-choice answers of the definitions, and if you’re stuck, you can click on the light bulb in the bottom-right to see the Clip-Art drawing that was associated with the original study guide in the Study Mode to jog your memory.

Once you successfully choose the definition you’ll move your words from Don’t Know to Mastered and can remove them from the Quiz section, to only focus on the words you have yet still to understand. At any time you can clear your list and start from scratch, though, if you feel like starting over.

This App has a lot of features, and includes several different ways to learn the Vocabulary you’ll need to help pass your SAT, or simply to brush up on Vocabulary in General. There’s also a Free Version to test out before dishing out the full price, so check it out!
