We use real time mapping and the latest dynamic website techniques to
make sure the info is always fresh and totally pin point accurate. We
won’t just tell you there was a bird sighted somewhere in Norwich, we
will actually show you the exact spot the sighting took place, right
down to the longitude and latitude with time and date stamp to let you
know precisely when. A pointer on the map shows you exactly where to
train your binoculars. Or how about checking how many Nuthatches have
been spotted within 5 miles of right where you are currently standing?
Or show me all species of birds spotted in the last month within 10
miles of Brighton. You get the idea, totally searchable, totally
customisable data whenever you need it. Worldwide.
Report your sightings direct from the iPhone and the whole community
can see it instantaneously. Right now straight from the field. Bird
reports just don’t get fresher than this.
Once you are logged on to the Birding News website you can record all
your own lists for future perusal. Store them and then search them by
species, family, dates, times or whatever combination takes your
fancy. You can then output the results to your favourite spreadsheet,
database program or print for a permanent record on your own computer.
A nice little backup to your precious field notebooks.
The iPhone app will allow you to get real time updates of all birds or
just the ones you specify. Filtered by geographical location, sex or
any combination. You can also add your own sightings and have that
information sent instantaneously to all other users. Twitchers of the
world rejoice!
Birding News is designed and maintained by Rox Productions Ltd based
in deepest darkest Yorkshire in the UK by a collection of keen
birdwatchers and one twitcher in denial. The project was initially
designed and created by Paul Bimrose and a very small team who have
worked tirelessly over the past few months. The site came about really
because we felt there wasn’t anything out there that gave us what we
personally needed or took advantage of the latest technologies.
We hope you like it and look forward to your comments.
