Review – “A great way to sort your photos by events!”

If you spend a lot of time traveling and you love taking photos, MyPlaces! is an app that you should tame a look at! The concept is simple. MyPlaces! allows you to sort your photos by the event they were taken for. It also allows you to add location data to your photos if they’re taken with a device that does not have a built-in GPS chip.

When you open up MyPlaces! the first thing you see is a simple interface with a menu bar at the top and bottom of the screen. To add a new event, or “Group,” all you have to do is touch the “+” button in the upper right corner of the screen. All you have to do is enter a name for the group and then touch the “Done” button in the upper right corner. You can sort the list of Groups or the events within them in ascending or descending order by touching the button in the center of the bottom of the screen.

Once you have added and opened up a “Group” you can add individual locations, photos and notes by touching the “+” button in the upper right corner. You’ll be taken to a screen with a map to enter in location you are posting about. At the bottom of the screen is a “Notes” button that will let you view and edit the name of the event and add relevant notes and photos.

It may seem a little silly at first to put your photos in an app to sort them by location when your iPhone already does that for you. With that said, if you’re the kind of person that takes a lot of photos, you’ll very quickly come to appreciate the fact that you can sort your photos into a variety of different sections based on where they were taken and what you were doing! All of that combined with the ability to add notes about the events you’re photographing manage to make this app quite useful.

The best selling points of this app are in how simple it manages to keep itself. At any time if you need to remove entries all you have to do is touch the “Edit” button in the upper left corner of the screen and use the familiar iPhone interface to touch the “-” button on the left and then touch the “Delete” button on the right.

While the interface is pretty simple, if you’re unsure and want to be walked through it all you have to do is touch the “?” button in the lower left corner of the screen. With that said, I don’t think very many people will ever need this feature because of how simple the app is. If you’re still unsure of how useful this app can be, I’d encourage you to try out the “Lite” version of the app for free. It is fully functional, just with ads and a limit on how many groups and events you can add.

easyFinder (Free)

Review – “Helping people find you made easy!”

Sometimes there’s nothing more frustrating than trying to give someone directions over the phone. If you find yourself constantly trying to send and receive directions, you may want to check out easyFinder! easyFinder makes it extremely easy send location information that can be viewed on any phone with access to Google Maps!

When you open up easyFinder the first thing you’ll see is a dialer much like the phone app. You’ll want to set things up first, and you do that by touching the little “i” button in the upper right corner. There is some basic information that will be used to generate the text that will be sent to your recipients.

Once you get everything setup it takes just a few seconds to send your coordinates to someone. You can either type in a phone number, or get one from your contacts list by touching the phonebook button on the left side of the screen.

If you want to send a message in addition to your coordinates you can either change the “Position” message in the setup options or you can create a custom message by turning your device sideways and typing in whatever it is you want it to say. Once you’re ready all you have to do to generate the message and link is touch the “Position” button. The “to” field will be automatically filled in with whatever number you chose within the app.

While sending your coordinates will work with any phone with a web browser and access to Google Maps, the “Request” feature requires the other party to have the easyFinder app running on their device. When you choose a number and touch the “Request” button it will send that person a link that will open up easyFinder on their phone and automatically fill in your phone’s number so they can send you where they are quickly!

If you even think that this app may be something you would be interested then you should really check it out. The app is very simple to use and it worked for me without any kinks whatsoever! That combined with the fact that it’s currently free and might not stay that way make this a great time to grab it up as well!

Kemba – personal journal (Free)

Review – “Keep a personal journal with a unique twist!”

Kemba is a journal that not only helps you keep track of your thoughts, but it also helps you keep them organized! People that journal write about all kinds of things, they write about their experiences as mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, and as participants in all kinds of activities and hobbies. What if there was a way to keep track of how much time you spend writing about different parts of your life? Well with Kemba (a sort of acronym for “KEep Me BAlanced”) you can do that and more with an easy to use interface on your mobile device!

The first thing you’ll need to do when you open up Kemba for the first time is set up your “roles.” These are the different aspects of your life that you want to post about and keep track of. You can have anywhere from just a couple of broad ones, or you can choose to really micro-manage things down into up to 14 different categories, each with it’s own unique color code.

Once you get your roles set up you’re ready to start journaling! To write a new post you just touch the “New” tab at the bottom of the screen. You’ll need enter a title for your post and it will automatically track when you start and end your post to figure out how much time you spend on it.

Once you’ve finished a post you can add up to 4 images to your post. Unfortunately you can’t just snap pictures from directly within the app. This is not a huge deal, but being a journal app it would be nice to have a way to just snap a quick picture to add to your post. Once you have your post finished you’ll need to enter in which “role” your post is most closely related to and then touch the “Save” button in the upper right corner of the screen.

Over time and as you accumulate more posts Kemba’s graphs will get more accurate. The idea is that with time you’ll find out where your true priorities lie. While you may want to think that you spend the most time on certain activities, you may find your life completely dominated by some of the more trivial things in your life! The graphs break down not only how many posts you create for each “Role,” but also how much time you spend writing them.

While I’ve never been a big “journaler” myself, this app manages to take a fresh approach that uses journaling to help set your priorities. While the app is free to try out, if you really want to get the most out of this app you’ll probably want to spring for the full version which can be bought via in-app purchase. While this may seem a little pricey, if you really want this app to be a help in setting your priorities, $4.99 is hardly going to break the bank. So what are you waiting for? iDrink4Free ($0.99)

Review – “Fool your friends into buying you a drink!”

Whether you spend a lot of time in the bar, or you just want a few nifty tricks to show your friends, iDrink4Free is a very interesting app. The basic idea is that it has a variety of “parlor tricks” that you can perform to trick people into buying you a drink.

The “Home” screen of this app is a list of all of the available tricks. Each trick shows up in the list with it’s title, and the beginning of its “ITEMS NEEDED” list. Once you find a trick that you think might be interesting all you have to do is touch it. You’ll be taken to a screen where you can read exactly how to perform the trick.

In the upper right corner of each trick you’ll see a “+” button that will allow you to add it to your “favorites” list. Just below that button are buttons for sharing the trick with your friends via facebook/email, or for sharing where on the map you were when you successfully used the trick!

The menu at the bottom of the screen has two other options. You can choose to view a “Random” trick, or view your list of “Favorites!” Not only can you view your list of favorites though, you can actually manage it from this screen as well. To delete items off of this list all you have to do is swipe the one you want to remove to the right and then touch the “Delete” button that appears.

There is a decent amount of variety in the tricks in this app. Some of them are pretty in depth and difficult, while some of the others are simple enough that someone would probably have to be pretty drunk for them to work. With that said I did have a lot of fun testing out a few of them at home!

The app author also threw a little bit of a social aspect to it by allowing you to send in your location and a comment when you successfully use a trick! To view everyone else’s comments and their locations when they sent them all you have to do is touch the little globe icon in the upper right corner of the screen and you’ll be taken to a map.

While obviously there isn’t a whole lot to this app, it’s only $0.99, and it definitely had some interesting things to try out. Whether you really are a bar-hopper, or you just want some neat tricks to try out on your friends iDrink4Free is definitely an app to be taking a look at. So what are you waiting for? AppZapp also has a “PriceAlarm“ function, that will always inform you of sales or promotions of certain apps you love. You just set up a free account, and select the Apps you want to monitor.

“Discover the App Store” is a great tool to help you find what your looking for in the App Store. It features the same great descriptions and details you’ve come to know from the App Store. It supports App Stores in the US, UK, Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.

This is a great app for monitoring the App Store. Something the is missing from the actual App Store. Being able to keep an eye on certain apps that you may find a little pricey, and know when there are going on sale, is a terrific feature, that will probably never be included by Apple. The “Changes and Updates at a glance” feature is great, if you’re interested in knowing what has recently been updated, or want to ignore updates and focus on new releases only. Seeing as this app is free, there is no reason we cannot recommend this app.

The BillyGoat Quiz ($0.99)

Review – “Teach your brain to think outside the box!”

If you enjoy things that make you think then there is a good chance you’ll find “The BillyGoat Quiz” to be a lot of fun! The basic idea is that you are timed and given a certain amount of attempts to solve a series of puzzles. Some of them are fairly simple, while others are designed to trick you into thinking the answer is something different.

When you open up the game you are asked if you’d like to sign into your OpenFeint account. In case you’re not familiar with OpenFeint it is a social gaming platform that allows you to see what games your friends are playing and compare your scores with them and the rest of the world!

Once you set your OpenFeint settings it will automatically log you into the account you chose when you star the game. The main screen that you start at has 4 different buttons. In the lower left corner is a button to access the OpenFeint network and your settings. The lower right corner will take you to the developers website where you can find more information about the game and who created it.

The button on the left in the middle of the screen will take you directly to the global high scores list and the one to the right of it will start a new game. Once you start a game the timer will start immediately. The first time you play it though you won’t want to pay too much attention to it because you’ll need to figure out the various puzzles.

In order to be included on the global high score list you’ll need to complete the entire game. The puzzles are exactly the same every time you play but it took me quite a few tries to figure them all out. Some of them are simple things like telling you to press a button. Others will give you a list of instructions that you have to memorize and complete or even tell do something in the instructions box while other tells you to do something else!

While a game like this is not going to be worth $4 or $5 because of it’s limited nature, it does manage to offer a little bit of replay value by having the high score list oncer you finally figure out all the puzzles. For $0.99 I can say that I would recommend this game to someone that enjoys figuring out puzzles and definitely to someone that loves competition. So what are you waiting for? Group Call & Text by Callvine (Free)

Review – “Keeping in contact with groups of people the easy way!”

Do you regularly send text messages to the same groups of people? How would you like to be able to start up a group call without adding callers one at a time? Well wish no longer because now you can do that and more with Group Call & Text by Callvine!

The app itself is very straightforward. There is a menu bar along the bottom with 5 buttons. There is a button for calling and one for testing. There is also a “Groups” button that allows to divide your contacts yourself, a “Recents” button that shows all of your recent group calls and a “More” button that contains some basic setup options.

To set up a group text just touch the “Text Now” button at the bottom of the screen. At the top of the screen is a search bar. You can either type the name of the contact you want to add or just touch the little blue bookmark symbol on the right side of the search bar. Editing your list of contacts is simple as well. Just touch the “+” button in the upper right corner of the screen to add things and “swipe” to delete just like you would on the iPhone’s mail app!

One of the things that I really noticed with this app is just how well it is designed to work with the iOS 4. Once you get ready to send a text message you are taken straight to the “Messages” app without leaving the Group Call & Text completely. Once you are finished with your message you will go straight back to the Group Call & Text main screen!

The group call feature is set up the exact same as the texting app. Once you get all of the people that you want to group call just touch the “place call” button and it will connect to all your friends. This section of the app offers the same “swipe” to delete method of the texting app.

While there are a lot of cool features in this app, the one that truly won me over is the “Groups” feature. Touching the “Groups” button in the lower left corner of the screen will take you to a screen where you can access, create and edit various lists of people that you call and/or text regularly!

Once you’ve created a group, touching it will bring up a menu with three options: Place Group Call, Send Group Text and Edit this Group. This is something that is sadly missing from the built in messages app on the iPhone. You can text people in a group, but there is really not a good way to keep several groups of people to send texts to regularly.

To make group calls with this app you will need to sign up for an account through CallVine. The group calling features are free for an introductory period that ends on Sept 7th, and texting is always free! Whether you find yourself regularly arranging group calls, or you just text to groups of people a lot this app is available for free. So don’t wait another minute, head to the App Store and download it for yourself today!

iFindz is a new browser for the iPad, that is loaded with features. It helps you with work, school, and play, while keeping everything private.

It’s main feature, to me, is the ability to create user accounts. This protects your browsing privacy, as all your history, bookmarks, tabs, and notes, are all kept only on your profile. If your family is like mine, everyone wants to use the iPad to browse the web, and our 6 year old probably shouldn’t have full access to the internet. This way, we can log her in and she can just hit the tabs of the sites she’s allowed to visit. Each account is protected by a profile name and password.

A unique feature of iFindz, is the ability to send a message, or a “request”, to web content creators, without having to search for a contact page or an email. With a tap of a button, on any webpage,  you can send a request to the creator of that page. All requests are sent anonymously, and any replies will be sent to you, by iFindz. This is great for letting web developers know there may be errors on there site, requesting info on a product you might want to buy, or to submit content to someone’s blog.

iFindz makes looking back at your history, bookmarks, notes, requests, and responses, more engaging. iFindz adds images for everything you save. As long as you recognize the web pages you have visited, you can easily browse through your lists, and find what you’re looking for. A nice feature, especially for the kids who are still learning to read.

With the ability to add notes to any web page, iFindz becomes a great research tool. Either for school or for work, iFindz can be your essential tool for finding and saving important info for your next essay at school, or your next presentation at work. Notes can also be used to remind you why you were visiting a certain page.

I found iFindz for the iPad a great alternative to Mobile Safari, although not a replacement. There are many features in iFindz that I found useful. There are many other features not mentioned here, so you have to try this for yourself. It is a free app, so why not give it a try? You may use this in conjunction with Safari, to accomplish what you need to do. The big difference for me, was the ability to have user accounts to keep your browsing private.

Review – “Let My Face help you see your contacts!”

Cell phones have come a long way since their original introduction into the marketplace. We’ve gone from simple monochrome displays to high resolution smart phones with all kinds of free games and utilities! One thing that has stayed to same for quite a while is that it is a pain to try and add pictures to all of your contacts. Paragon Services is looking to change all of that with their new free “My Face” utility!

While there have been other apps that have offered ways to get photos for your contact list, for the most part they are all tied to a particular social interface. My Face instead uses only your phone number and name to deliver photos to you and your friends!

When you open up the app the first thing you’ll want to do is fill in the information on the “Settings” screen. You’ll need to enter some basic information that includes your phone number and initials. Once you’ve got that you can select a photo by touching the “Choose My Picture” button and getting a photo either from your iPhone’s camera or from your photo album.

Once you’re ready to upload your photo just touch the “Upload My Picture” button from the main menu. The first time you do this you’ll see a prompt telling you that you’re going to receive a text message with a link in it. All you have to do is click on the link in the text message that you receive and your photo will be uploaded and linked to your phone number! While this may seem a little annoying, it is for security reasons and it only has to be done the first time you upload a photo.

Well now that you’ve got your photo into the system it’s time to download all your friends photos! All you have to do is touch the “Get Contact Pictures” and it will check for and download all of them that are available. A prompt will come up below the first picture downloaded that that asks if you want to Ignore or Accept it. You can also choose to just “Accept All Contact Pictures” if you don’t want to go through all of them one at a time.

The final link from the main menu is a “Tell My Friends” button. If an app like this is really going to be useful your friends are going to have to upload their pictures to it as well, and this link offers a quick and easy way to send an email to your friends asking them to download this app and upload their photos!

My initial impressions of this app are that it does what it sets out to do quickly and easily. A huge plus is that not only is the app free but there is a version of it coming to the Android OS very soon. With it being cross platform and free there is a real chance that the app could become popular enough to be useful if word continues to go around! So what are you waiting for? Trick Your Ride ($0.99)

Review – “Create the car of your dreams with this unique app!”

If you’re a car enthusiast Trick Your Ride may be right up your alley! Trick Your Ride is a photo editing app that offers you tools to change the appearance of everything from the window tint to the tire rims and accessories! You choose one of the stock photos, or take your own photo and create your dream car!

When you open this app for the first time you’ll be greeted by some background music. This is one of five different custom tracks that you can set and listen to as you create your dream machine! If one of these is not to your liking you can also use a song from your iPod music library or choose not to play a song as well. This is done from the “Music” menu on the editing screen. Unfortunately it seems that there is no way to edit the background music directly from the main menu of the app.

The main menu screen has 4 buttons. In the upper right corner of the screen is a help button. This takes you to a scrolling window that is full of information on how all of the options within the app work. It is pretty long, but it is also very descriptive and makes it easy to figure out how some of the more complicated features work.

The other three buttons allow you to take a photo with your iPhone’s camera, use a picture from your library, or use a template that is built into the app and get started! Once you select your photo you’ll see a menu bar above your photo. This bar is full of all kinds of things that you can use to “Trick Your Ride.”

The first button in the menu takes you back to the main menu. The next button will open up the aforementioned music settings screen allowing you to select the right music to fit your mood! Right next to that button is the “Background” button. This button will bring up a screen with a few template backgrounds and the option to select a background directly from your photo library! It took me a second to figure out how this one works because it doesn’t show up right away. To make the background show up you actually have to erase whatever is in the foreground in front of it. This is explained in the help feature that I mentioned earlier.

The next two buttons allow you to zoom in on the areas that you’re working on and erase things that you don’t want any longer. The zoom feature uses the iOS “pinch” zoom gesture, and the eraser has a slider that allows you to set it to a variable size. The largest size is about the size of the tip of a finger, and the smallest size is so small that I couldn’t really even see it without looking very closely.

The next four buttons are where the core of the optimization features lie. You’ll find everything from wheels that you can overlay on top of the ones in your photo, down to all kinds of accessories and the ability to overlay text on top of your image! If you need to touch up your photos with a different color can do that with a pen that has variable size, opacity and color. Once you have your photo all finished it’s time to save your work. Touching the button in the upper right corner of the screen will allow you to quickly save it to either your image gallery or directly to FaceBook!

If you enjoy fun photo apps with clip art this one definitely has a unique feel to it. If you also enjoy cars and spend many of your waking hours dreaming about your ideal car, then this is simply an app that you will not want to miss! A new way to send your updates to your friends, Spuzzle combines the fun of a puzzle into twitter and Facebook to create a sort of Trivia for your friends to solve.

We’ve all gotten used to reading our friends ‘Status Updates’ or Tweets, but now you can add the fun of quizzing your friends. Instead of just telling everyone what you’re doing, where you are, or how you’re feeling you can create a Social Question – send it out and have your friends guess the answer. Interactive Social Updates!

Step 1: Create your Question. This could obviously be done without Spuzzle “Guess where I am?” but is more fun when you can completely customize. While you could create any Question you want (under 100 characters), you can also choose from one of the preset questions included.

Next Step: Include Hints. Here you can add word clues, or picture clues. Include photos already saved on your iPhone, or take a new one.

Step 3 is to send out your Spuzzle. You can notify your friends that you have a new Spuzzle via Email, Facebook and Twitter. You’ll send out your status update for your friends to go to your ‘Spuzzle’ (which will be on Spuzzle.com to answer.

While you will need a Spuzzle account (Free) to create and send your Social Questions, also, if you post via Twitter or Facebook your friends will also need to provide Spuzzle with their email addresses in order to answer the question.

I think this is a fantastic concept. While obviously I could just tweet/update a photo and question, this integrates great within my phone, and is a pretty fun alternate to a twitter client. Having to go through all of the extra registration is a bit of a chore, but only needs to be done once.

Luckily, the App is totally free. So you can test it out, and see if you’ll like the extra interactiveness of sending out Spuzzles instead of regular status updates. Go ahead and grab it from the link below!

Do you love taking photos of your friends and adding funny captions to them? Wouldn’t you love to be able to do this on the fly and then share your funny additions with your friends and family? If so then you may enjoy FaceTag, developed by MightyExcellentPosse.

This app is quite simple but can be quite addictive. Take a photo, add a caption, and share it. Easy enough? Let’s take a peek ..

As with most apps that work with your camera feature, when you initially open the app it prompts you to either take a new photo or retrieve one from your library.

At any time, if you need to refer to the instructions, simply hit the ? at the bottom.

After making your photo selection it takes you to the screen where you can add your caption bubble and text. By clicking the icons in the bottom center of the screen it will take you to the bubble chooser screen, where you can decide the shape of your new caption.

After picking out the shape you’ll then pick out which way the leading part of the bubble points. After that it will temporarily place the bubble on your photo, after which you can drag and resize it to your liking.

Double clicking the bubble allows you to add text. Clicking the “T” icon at the bottom right gives you the option to change the font type that you are using. Once you’ve added your caption simply hit the check mark to move forward in the app.

Once you’ve finished adding the caption you now have a few options as to what to do next .. Email it, send it as a text message, share it on Facebook, or Tweet it to Twitter.

Simply enough!

If you are looking for something that is nicely presented, simple to use, and gives you chances for tweaking, then you may enjoy using FaceTag. While I wish it had the option to save your photos to your iPhone, all in all I think this is a fun app that will give people hours of laughs!

Are you a FrontierVille addict? Looking for a great game guide to make the most of your experience? If so then you may be interested in Guide for FrontierVille (unofficial) which is a new addition to the App Store. Developed by Will Rodgers this guide may have everything you are looking for. Let’s check it out..

First of all, game guides have always been a popular desire for gaming addicts. These guys have gone through the program, inch by inch, and have conveniently package every tip and recommendation into the app for you, saving you all kinds of time in the process!

When you initially open the app it starts at the Table of Contents. You can immediately scroll down to see that this app is packed with lots of information. It breaks it down by “Parts” and then subsections under that. As an example Part IV is called “Quests” and a couple of the many subsections are called “Make Medicinal Tea” and “Fill the Pockets.”

This app is nice is a few ways. One is that you can scan the Table of Contents and go to exactly what you want to read about. The other is that when you finishing reading that section, and decide to read more, all you do is scroll down and continue. You don’t have to go back to the Menu and click on the next section. That is very convenient in my opinion.

As far as usability of the app it is nicely laid out, includes tables and graphics when they are beneficial, and it’s very well written. And .. it beats sitting there with a book in your lap!!

All in all, if you are one of the many (MANY) who are currently addicted to FrontierVille, and want to make the most out of your adventure, then I suggest you give this app a good look. It’s very well organized, has the right amount of detail so that you’re not overwhelmed or wanting for more, and will only improve your FrontierVille experience!

If you’ve spent hours practicing and still can’t get used to typing on the iPhone’s small keyboard this app may be for you. Full Screen Keyboard is an app that is designed to help you type faster by increasing the size of your keyboard by 100%!

Right when you open up the app you’ll see that the entire screen starts out as a keyboard. So I’m sure your first questions is, “if the keyboard fills the whole screen then where does the text I type show up?” The answer is that it shows up behind your keyboard. the basic idea is that your keyboard is in the foreground but is transparent.

The first thing you’ll notice if you’re already fairly familiar with the iPhone’s keyboard layout is that this one feels quite a bit different. First of all it only works in landscape mode, but secondly the letters are just laid out different. The “Q” is above the top row of letters on the left side, and all of the punctuation that is not on the “numbers” page is at the top of the screen.

There are a few basic options that you can set up by touching the settings button in the lower left corner of the screen. You can change the buttons color, the text color, and how transparent(opaque) the keyboard is. You can also change the font size here as well.

Once you get a block of text saved it’s simple to transfer it to whatever app you want to. Touching the button that looks like an underscore in the lower left corner of the screen will bring up a small menu of options to help you get your text where you need it. You can easily transfer the text you type to sms messages, emails or even use your text as a search query directly from within this app by touching the appropriate button!

While this app probably wouldn’t have been all that useful not too long ago, with the multitasking features that are built into iOS 4 this is no longer the case! Full Screen Keyboard has full iOS 4 support and will allow you to quickly switch back and forth between itself and other apps without losing what you were working on!

So while the feature set seems nice, and the interface is simple, an app like this always comes down to how well it really performs on typing! After using this app for a while I was definitely more accurate on hitting the correct letters when trying to type things quickly.

With all that said I did have a couple of issues with Full Screen Keyboard as well. The first one is the backspace key. While all of the other letters and keys have a little bit of delay in them which allows you to quickly touch them once and be done, the backspace key does not. This makes it easy to quickly delete a lot of characters, the problem with that is that sometimes you delete a lot of characters without even meaning to!

The second issue I had is with the way that caps lock/shift works in this app. There is only one button for shift/caps, which is represented by an up-pointing arrow. This one button basically works as a caps lock. The problem is that there is really no way to easilycapitalize just the first letter of a word, even if it is the first word in a new sentence! This is not a big deal if you’re just texting, but if you’re trying to type an email with this app it gets old fast!

To sum it all up, I definitely see a lot of potential in this app, and I’m sure it will continue to get better as the developers work on it. Even in it’s current state though I definitely can see how this app could be very useful if you have large thumbs and/or you have trouble typing fast on the iPhone’s keyboard. One of my favorite things about my iPhone is the texting application. It makes it extremely easy to keep track of your conversations with individuals, and with iOS4 it’s very quick to switch to it and then back to whatever you were doing before. With that said the cost of texting can add up quickly, and is not even available if you just have an iPod Touch. Whatever your situation Messagey! is coming to your rescue!

! is an app that will allow you to send and receive text messages on any device running iOS. It offers a variety of features, including push notifications and a unique interface that makes switching between conversations even faster!

When you open up Messagey! for the first time you’ll be asked if you want to use it in “Messagey!” mode or in “Classic” mode. I would recommend that you at least try the Messagey! mode. Classic mode will basically behave like the built-in Messages app, while Messagey! mode will allow you to switch between conversations by swiping side to side!

Once you decide what mode to use you’ll also need to sign up for a messagey account. This will allow you to both send messages and also receive them on your device. The process for signing up is fairly quick, and I didn’t have any problems with it myself.

Once you get everything set up you’ll be greeted by the main screen. To add a new conversation all you have to do is touch the “+” button at the top of the screen. This will bring up a pop-up window with a list of all your contacts to choose from.

Once you choose a contact to start a conversation with you’ll notice that the name of that contact will show up in the bar at the top of the screen. This is the bar that you will use to switch between conversations. To switch conversations all you have to do is drag that same bar to the left or the right.

While the core of this app is nice, what really sets it off is the customization of it. If you touch the settings button in the lower left corner of the screen you’ll have the ability to do all kinds of things. One really nice feature is the ability to have messages from others with Messagey! automatically forwarded to the app when it recognizes your email address or phone number.

Another cool feature is the ability to turn the background of the app into whatever your camera sees. This makes it possible for you to type text messages or emails while you’re still paying attention to what’s in front of you!

There are two ways to go with this app, free and paid. The free version of the app has a limit of 30 text messages a day and is ad-supported. If you want to get rid of these limitations you can do so by paying either $0.99 a year or $1.99 for a lifetime subscription!

While this obviously isn’t as deeply integrated into the iPhone as the Messages app it can be a great way to save some money!  The texts do go through through fairly quickly as well, but there is a little bit of a delay occasionally.  With that said, this is still really a must have though app for iPod Touch users as it can add texting to your device for free! Whether you own an iPhone, an iPod touch, or even an iPad you should at least give this app a look because it is hard to beat free!  You may find that you like it even more than you thought you would!

MocoSpace is one of the most popular Chat Apps for the iPhone, which recently got an update that now features photo sharing.

If I had to sum up MocoSpace as quickly as possible it’s MySpace meets Chatrooms – on your iPhone. While I’m personally really into Social Networking this is just a touch too Social for me – but I can aboslutly see the appeal for the millions of users (that’s right, they purport to have 11 Million active users) that do use this, probably daily.

I’ll be honest, it’s probably a fantastic tool for chatting with your friends, sending IMs instead of proper (for-pay) texts, and sharing photos. You can sync your MocoSpace Chat Profile with your Facebook Profile and import friends (or invite them) to use the App. You have an in-App Profile that you can customize, and it shows all of your current events, friends statuses, messages, photos and more.

Foremost, there’s the Chat Rooms, Dozens of them. While most are broken up by Age, Location or Nationality, there are a few for interests as well. To be honest, I did not spend that much time in this section of the App because I have no interest in live-chat with strangers. However, if you are, than this is a great App for you, there are literally hundreds of people on in each room at any given time. I, however, grew out of that phase.

I think the feature I would use the most, would be the IM and photo sharing. For social butterflies who want to chat and share in real-time, and on your Mobile – instead of Facebook, this is a fantastic alternate. There are so many ways to interact with others. While Facebook is generally used to connect with or reconnect with existing friends, this App has the added element of meeting new friends. Please be advised that there are some *very adult* conversations and chats in lots of the rooms and profiles. There, you have been warned.

Additionally, should you use the App a lot you can earn “Badges” for different things, uploading a certain number of photos or having a certain number of friends.

The fun doesn’t end in the App itself, your profile is carried over to MocoSpace.com where you can play games, share links, use eCards, and much more. Also, online you can search to add friends from twitter, Myspace, Gmail and lots more. It’s a great addition the App for the user who wants to have an online portal.

Whether your already addicted, or you’ve always wondered why so many of your friends are playing, there’s never been a better time to try out one of the most popular games on Facebook! Farmville by Zynga is an iPhone app that interfaces with Farmville. It does this by downloading all your information from their servers, and then rendering it all on your iDevice!

The first time you open up Farmville on your iPhone you’ll need to get your account set up. If you already have Farmville on your facebook account you’ll be able to log in and access your old farm. You can also just create a new farm though if you’ve never played Farmville.

The basic idea of Farmville is that you get to create and design your own farm! As you progress through the game you’ll unlock the ability to grow a variety of different crops. You can also buy all kinds of items including fences, houses, barns, and animals!

In addition to “leveling up” for performing tasks and gaining xp, you also make money by producing and selling things. You can make money by growing trees and selling their fruits. You can make money by growing and selling various gropes from flowers to fruits and vegetables. You can also make money off the various different animals by performing things like milking them, or sheering them, etc.

As far as the look and feel of this app Zynga has done an excellent job making it feel like the web version! The interface is pretty easy to understand, and the app offers explanations of how to perform basic functions in case you can’t figure it out.

In all honesty the only real problems with app have to do with it’s connectivity. Sometimes it takes several tries to get the app to connect and load the information from Facebook’s servers. While some of these problems have been fixed in the latest 1.01 update, some of the problems still persist. For the most part the app seems stable after it gets loaded though.

One of the coolest features of this app is that you can actually receive push notifications when your crops are ready to harvest! One of the more difficult/time consuming tasks in Farmville is keeping track of when you need to get on to take care of the crops you have planted. With Push Notifications you’ll never have to worry about keeping track of this manually!

Overall the performance of this app was adequate. There are definitely a few bugs still in the system, but Zynga is working hard to fix them. While I probably wouldn’t probably recommend starting a new farm with this app until they get a few more kinks worked out, there is plenty here for the experienced Farmville user! Regardless, it can’t hurt to at least take a look at this app because just like Farmville on Facebook this app is available for free. So download your copy today!

Review – “Tag, Sync, Share and GeoTag your Albums”

MyWorld is an App which allows you to store and share your Photos by location. Using integrated GPS location you can set an album to a particular destination and upload photos directly to your Facebook or Flickr account albums.

It sounds pretty simple, and it is, but this App is a phenomenal convenience for organizing photos from any special occasion by location. You start by opening a new Album – you can either select a location on the Map or have the App find your location directly. Within your Album you can add photos, audio or video (depending on your device) and have all of the media in one simple folder for that particular location or event.

Where this App really shines in the integration with Sharing and Social Media. Firstly, Bump is integrated into both the Map view as well as the album sharing page – so you can easily Bump your albums to another MyWorld iPhone user. Couldn’t be easier. However, if you want to simply post your pics via Facebook, Twitter or Flickr – that’s available too. You add the authorizations within each album and every time you update your album, it’ll update the social media site of your choice, or you can send specific media items individually! I tried my own with Flickr and was impressed that it uploaded quickly, creating a specific set within my photofeed for this Album.

Something else you might not expect but is a very smart inclusion is the ability to Email the media directly or also including a KML (Google Earth) File. Or, if you want to keep it simple you can copy and send the Google Maps shortcut URL created for your album, also listed on the sharing screen.

Finally you can maintain a list of the people who are either in the photos, or were with you at the time by including them directly from your iPhone Contact List or manually entering them.

The only drawback I could find while I was testing out the App is that to add the media to each album you have to add one photo at a time – which can be bothersome if you’re create the album after the event. I was trying to group together a bunch of photos I had taken about a year ago but gave up after the fifth or sixth because it was taking so long. If there is an option to import many photos into the album at once, I did not find it, and hopefully if this isn’t an feature now, it will be included soon.

This App could have many uses – not only as an organization for events and places. If you’re interested in keeping track of the location of where your photos were taken for whatever reason, you should seriously consider getting MyWorld. It’s well designed and full of sharing features that you might not find on other Photo Album Apps.

Review – “Wow your friends without hitting the gym!”

While my favorite types of apps are typically useful ones, every once in a while it’s nice to download an app and just have fun with it. If you enjoy humor and playing with photos, then SixApp may be the app you’re looking for! The basic idea is that it allows you to add a layer over photos that makes it look like people have a six-pack that really don’t in reality.

The load time for this app was very good for a photo editing app. When you open it up you’re greeted by a start-up splash screen. When you’re ready to get started just touch the “Start” button in the lower right corner of the screen.

The first screen of the app allows you to select a photo by either taking a new one, using one in your photo album, or using one out of your saved images. Once you select a photo you’ll need to select the type of “abs” that you’ll be overlaying on the image. There are three different types for both male and female abs: “Just a bit,” “RIPPED!,” and “Absurd!”.

Once you select a photo and an type you’ll be taken to the “Adjust” screen. From here you can grab and stretch the “abs” to make them fit your photo. Once you get the abs placed exactly where you want them you can also turn on the “erase” feature by touching the switch in the lower right corner. This will make it so that you can erase little sections that don’t look quite right.

After trying out all the different types of abs, the easiest for me to get to look right were the “Just a bit” abs. It’s also important to note that your results will be very poor if your picture does not have adequate lighting. If the lighting is too bright then the abs will look funny, and if you don’t get enough light then you really won’t see much difference.

The last step when you’re finished is sharing the finished product with your friends! The “Save/Share” screen in SixApp offers three links that will let you share your creation through Facebook, your email, or by saving it to your photos folder on your device!

All things considered, while this app doesn’t have a whole lot of functionality, it does do what it’s designed for very well. Because of this fact, and also because of how simple it is, I think SixApp makes a very worthy “gag” app. So what are you waiting for? Check it out in the App Store today for just $0.99!

Apparently I’m late to the game when it comes to GetGlue, it’s been around for a while online as a website where you rank, rate, like, share and check-in with your interests. From TV, Movies, Books, and much more. If I had to sum it up, I’d say it’s ‘Twitter’ Meets ‘Facebook Fans’ Meets ’4Sqaure’, for Entertainment. Now, they have an iPhone App which lets you do almost anything you could do on the site, only on your iPhone.

Although half of the fun of this App is simply sharing your interests and current hobbies with friends, they’ve built an entire community around this site subsequently the App. It’s easy to get hooked in quick in adding your Favorite Things, and ‘Liking’ them (exactly like Facebook’s ‘Like’ Feature).

In addition to searching for your your specific favorites books, website, movies, etc you also have the option to simply be given a list of the most popular to ‘Like’ or ‘Dislike’. This is entirely too addictive, and I will admit that I got sucked into it for a good 10 minutes before coming back out to test the actual purpose of the App, sharing your favorite things.

This is the real headline feature of the App. Lets say you want to let your friends know what you’re reading. You ‘Check-in’ to a Book. This will alert your friends, followers and subscribers that you’re currently reading this book (how? We’ll get to that in a second).

Simply search for the author or title and find it listed and click on ‘Check-In’, here you have the option to tweet or update Facebook with a similar message – this is how you tell the world know what you’re doing/liking. Of course, you could not, and it would simply show up on your GetGlue Profile (example: here is mine). Keep in mind that when you Tweet, it’ll link to the Book’s GetGlue Page (see example below). It’s entirely seamlessly integrated with these two social media sites, which I find pretty fantastic.

Now, other than being able to share all this info with your friends, what other advantages are there to using GetGlue? Well, the more you check-in, or add items that you Like, or by leaving an insightful comment (that others vote for) you can become a Guru (like 4sqaure’s Mayors) and win free stuff. Also, you collect ‘stickers’ on the site for the things you enjoy – with the option of ordering physical copies of them to adorn your laptop, locker, cubicle or whatever!

Still not quite getting it? Well, have a look at the video that the developers put together;

Within hours of launching this App was featured on the App Store. There are already a ton of people using Glue and I’m sure that this will catch on even further. If you want to share, discover and track your favorite things, this is a great App to have, and it takes only a few seconds to sign up and integrate with your Facebook and/or Twitter.
