REVIEW – “Create a video masterpiece without your computer!”
One of the biggest rumors around the iPhone 3GS before it 
came out was that it was going to have a video camera, and that Apple was planning on including a simplified version of “iMovie” to edit clips directly on the iPhone. Well we got one of those two things right? Well thanks to Nexvio and their new app, ReelDirector, you can have the best of both worlds!
When you open this app up you will be taken to your list of current “projects.” To start a new one just touch the “New” button in the upper right corner. If you’d rather get a few pointers on how the app works 
you can touch the little “i” button in the upper left corner. It will have all kinds of information including a video demonstration of the major features of ReelDirector.
Once you start a new project you will see a list of options that you can set up before you start loading clips into it. You can set things like the video’s title, where the title will show up in the video, whether or not it will have closing “credits,” and what the default video transition will be. Once you get your new project set up like
you want it just touch the “done” button in the upper left corner.
The next screen you will see is the “timeline” view. Here you will see all of the clips that you have added in the bar at the top, and a thumbnail of the currently selected video below it. From this screen you can easily insert a video or a clip of a video anywhere in the timeline. Once you have added your videos to your project you can select it from the timeline and view it, remove it and even change the transition that will be used to switch to and from that video. Looking at this timeline, it would be very nice to be able to add different audio into it as well. This is something that Nexvio has mentioned that they are working on and should be included as a free update in the future.
One of the things that is really nice about this app is that when you go to 
add clips to your project, by using the “Add” button in the upper right corner, you select a clip you have already recorded and then you get to select a section of that video that you want to add. This allows you to take a shorter clip out of a video and add it to your project without creating another second video file in your Camera Roll. This will save a lot of space on your phone if you plan on editing video on a regular basis.
Another thing that I was really impressed with was the quality of the transitions that are included for use. They really help to add a professional touch to your videos. 
They are also extremely easy to set up. You can either set your default transition in your project’s “properties” and leave it, or you can go in and set each transition individually. Either way, the transitions give your videos a sharp and polished look that I never thought would be possible on my phone.
If you’re like me and you like to take video but hate taking the time to edit it on your computer, you should really take a look at ReelDirecter by Roxio. This app manages to take the iPhone 3GS’s meager video editing capabilities and expand the into something that could easily be used to produce high-quality video content directly from your mobile device!
The response times in this app were very good on everything except it did take a little while to “render” the video once you finished. The bottom line with this app is that if you spend a lot of time recording video, or even if you just would like to be able to compile video from an event together into one awesome video there is not a better app out there.
