REVIEW – “Trace any picture on your iPhone to create a work of art!”
This is a very unique app and this is one that I did not think would work all that well on to the iPhone. Photo Tracer allows you to draw on top of any picture while adjusting the transparency settings in order to create a personal work of art.
Many of us remember using tracing paper in order to feel like we could create works of art even if we did not have the greatest artistic skills. Now you can do the same with your iPhone.
When you open the app you have a blank canvas. This is available for if you simply want to draw. If you do then you can click the icon with all the colors in order to choose whatever color you would like. The broom is the eraser. The icon with all the lines allows you to adjust the thickness of the pencil or brush. 
If you are having trouble creating lines the way you want you can click the info icon in order to adjust the spacing between your finger and the brush.
But if you want to use the app to trace a picture then you like the camera icon, this allows you pick a picture from your library or to take one. Once you have the picture as you background you can adjust the transparancey using the slider and you can start to trace. You can use the arrows to undo or redo any action.
What I found about this app is that it has one major flaw and that is that it does not allow you to zoom in and out on the picture. This can be troublesome for the details especially when the brush and eraser are not as precise as you might like them to be.
This isn’t to say that the app is not fun or useful but that it might not be something for the perfectionist. I think that some shortcuts were taken in this app but hopefully some updates can fix those issues. I would also love some features like smudge and an eraser that was much smaller and erased where I wanted it to.
For kids this app might do what they want it to but it is not great for an adult wanting to create a serious picture. I think there need to be more precise movements and a few more features before it is something that adults will get behind. Children will love the ability to draw and they might have the patience needed to create that perfect picture.
All in All this is a decent app. It claims to be the easiest tracer app for the iphone that “Even a 4 yr kid can use it” which says something about the care taken with this app.
