REVIEW – “You’ll have a swinging good time with this simple game!”
I find that it is sometimes the simplest games that become the most addictive. The same could be said for Mr. AahH! There is barely anything to this game but it still ends up being a great deal of fun and a game that you want to play over and over again.
So what is this game? Well you are just a little white stick figure and your goal is to swing from one rainbow colored platform to another. The closer you are to the center the more points you earn. Sounds simple enough? Well it is but before you shake your head and say that sounds boring, the game does get a tad more interesting.
As you progress further and further you will have to account for wind changes and gravity changes. You might misjudge a swing when you realize that it takes you three times longer to fall and the wind is blowing in the opposite direction.
But what I really like about this game is that the background music and the sounds are all oldschool. The sounds seem like they come straight out of an old fashioned video game and they really add to the fun and excitement about the game.
Now here’s the rundown on the good and the bad. Gameplay is simple, once you land on a platform the character will automatically walk to the other side and start to swing to the next platform. All you have to do is tap the screen when you want him to let go. So just about anyone can get the hang of this game rather quickly. If you choose to you can even go into the options mode and set the accelerometer setting to “ON.” This will allow you to fine tune the direction of Mr. AahH once he is in the air.
The bad is that I really do not like the fact that it does not show your score on the screen. I like knowing how close I am to beating my highscore (or my husbands) while I am playing. It really puts the pressure on to get those perfect scores (landing on the red).
Another good this is that unlike many games where you are going from platform to platform you get three lives, so your game doesn’t automatically end when you make one mistake.
The graphics are nice enough but nothing too special, the good thing about that though is that it really makes the loading time next to nothing if you have one at all.
Overall I enjoyed this game and while not as graphically impressive or as addictive as some of the other games I have played it is fun to try and pull out every once and awhile. Plus for the $.99 pricetag you can’t go wrong. There is even a lite version that you can download for free if you would just like to try it out.
