More Birthdays (Free)
Version 1.0
REVIEW – “Download this app – it’s free, fun and helps you remember those important dates.”
Whether you are the type of person who sends a card for birthdays or wish you were the type of person that did that,
the More Birthdays app is just for you! When I first got my iPhone I was excited to see that within each of the contacts, there was room for additional information like birthdays, anniversaries, notes and so much more – to me, this was perfect. But after I entered in all of the information for each contact (birthdays included), I was disappointed to see that there was no notification for the birthdays that were entered.
With the More Birthdays app, all of your contacts are automatically entered and the facebook connect option allows for the same thing – amazing! All of the people I talk to on a regular and not-so regular basis are now stored in this app that will automatically push notifications to my phone so that I never have to miss a birthday again! Because we all know how lousy it feels when this happens, More
Birthdays gives you the option of pushing your notifications weekly, daily or off and you can manually check –whatever your preference may be. You no longer have to worry about feeling like a scumbag because you had twenty other things going on that day. Let’s be honest, we relay a whole lot on email, calendars and pop up notifications, there’s no reason to be ashamed.
More Birthdays is sponsored by the American Cancer Society and as the app is free, there is a “Donate to ACS” button at the bottom of the app. If advertisements bother you, then you shouldn’t download free apps. ACS is generous enough to sponsor this app so people like us can have it for free, and I, for one, greatly appreciate it. I have found this app very useful as it does something that the general birthdays function in the iPhone cannot – remind you.
In addition of reminding you of birthdays and even having the option to donate to ACS in someone’s name (because really, how cool of a gift is that?), you can send a cake to someone via email. Yes, it mentions ACS, but why not spread the word to your friends and family? If helping find a cure for cancer isn’t near and dear to your heart, then you should consider yourself lucky that this disease doesn’t affect anyone close to you. If you can send them a card or a cake, you can let them know how you did it – via this app.
I have yet to find fault in this app as the push notifications are great. You get a pop up like a text message informing you of one, two or however many birthdays are upcoming for that day. And if you should choose to not look at the app right away, a number notification is displayed on the app icon, similar to the mail feature. A great way for remembering birthdays, this app does it all. Sometimes a little remembering goes a long way. Download this app – it’s free, fun and helps you remember those important dates.

DEVELOPERS NOTES
More Birthdays, from the American Cancer Society, lets you keep track of all the upcoming birthdays of your friends, family, and contacts, using Push Alerts to send you either weekly or daily reminders.
Automatically import all the contacts from your device, and then optionally import all of your Facebook friends by logging into your existing Facebook account via Facebook Connect. Contacts from your address book can be edited and updated and you can add new contacts from scratch within the app.
More Birthdays will ask for your birthday info when you set it up for the first time so we can send you a birthday cake on your big day. Practice blowing out the candles on your cake: turn the phone to landscape view, and blow into the microphone to put out the candles (iPhone only. Double-tap to put out the candles on iPod Touch devices).
Sending a cake to a friend on their birthday is as easy as clicking a button. A new email window launches with the image of a birthday cake. You can personalize your message and send right from within the App.
The ACS tab contains a variety of information about the American Cancer Society, including links to helpful information online as well as a custom YouTube channel viewer featuring birthday-related videos from the American Cancer Society channel.
