REVIEW – “A must have app for any baseball fan!”
One of my favorite apps last year was MLB.com At Bat. I would have been happy to just get that same app again this year, but Major League Baseball has taken their app to another level with this year’s edition! Not only has the interface improved, but they’ve added a couple of new features that every baseball fan will love. If you are a baseball fan this is an app that you need to have on your iPhone!
What really makes this app great is how easy it is to use. When you open it up the first screen you’ll see is the “Scoreboard.” This is an overview of all the games for the current day. It gives you a simple overview of all the game times, scores and stats. If a game is currently in progress you can also listen to it, or if you are subscribed 
to MLB.tv you can actually watch it live by touching the corresponding button at the bottom of the screen.
If you are familiar with the premium features that MLB.com offers you’ll realize that if for nothing else at all this app is worth $14.99 because you get free access to GameDay Audio! Well with this year’s app this has been taken a step further! MLB.com has made it possible to stream Gameday Audio in the background by using the Safari web browser! What this means is that you can be playing a game, checking your email, surfing the web, etc. while at the same time continuing to listen to the game!
Another great feature is that this year’s app has Gameday audio, and even some video for Spring Training as well as the regular season! So if you’re itching to get in on the action before the season starts MLB.com has done a much better job of getting Spring training resources out through this app.
At the bottom of the screen you’ll find a menu that will let you access several different screens. Not only do they offer video highlights like last year but you can also read the latest news and check the standings through dedicated tabs from this menu. There are also a variety of settings to customize how you view everything 
in this app if you touch the “More” button in the bottom right corner of the screen.
One of the best new features of this app is the ability to browse video highlights and news by team! Using the tabs at the top of the screen it is extremely easy to filter through the mass of news stories and videos to get to the ones that are most important to you! You can also set your favorite teams in the “more” area to make it easier to access information on those teams more quickly!
The main blackspot on this app continues to be the blackout rules imposed by MLB on the MLB.tv video service. That is no fault of this app though, but rather a rule imposed as a result of MLB’s agreement with the teams. With that said this app is both one of the easiest and most informative sports apps that is available in the App Store for any sport. I could go on about the variety of features that it has from Push Notifications to detailed player statistics and rosters. However, if you are still questioning whether the app is worth the $14.99 price tag I’d encourage you to check out the “Lite” version of this app. With that said, if you want to be able to listen to the games anywhere you will not find a better bargain than this app, so head to the App Store and download it for yourself today!

I can’t figure out how to listen to the games in the background?
To listen to a game in the background all you have to do is select a game you want to listen to, touch the “Audio” button in the upper right hand corner. You’ll be shown a list of available audio feeds. Select a feed and then touch the Quicktime symbol in the upper left corner and a little box will pop up. Just touch “Background” and it will open up a page in Safari. Touching the play button on this play will start the feed playing. If you leave safari by touching the home button the audio will continue playing because Safari stays running in the background!
That’s because it doesn’t work. The person writing this article is basically re-posting a press release.

. I have the MLB app for both my iPhone and iPad, and while I take issue with MLB’s blackout policies, both apps are excellent examples of Apps done right.
