REVIEW—”Keep your steps on track with StepTrakLite”
StepTrakLite is a simple, handy application. In fact, McDonald’s had a similar step counting gadget a few years back, but StepTrakLite is great for avid walkers and runners who care about distance more than endurance and time.
StepTrakLite is also a fairly easy app to master. A little stroll through the How To section and you’ll know exactly how everything works. With a simple interface, StepTrakLite breaks down information into 3 easy to read and understand categories: Total Steps, Walking/Running Steps and Activity (moderate or vigorous). StepTrakLite even also allows you to change the sensitivity level that StepTrakLite will monitor your steps. This requires that the user be aware of their own body and how light or heavy their own steps and strides are. Therefore, StepTrakLite can be a trial and error app of sorts.
StepTrakLite has even jumped on the social networking bandwagon and allows users to log into their Twitter accounts and tell their followers how much they are progressing. I’d say that’s only useful if your Twitter followers are into nutrition and fitness as well.
But the most amazing thing about StepTrakLite is that you can categorize your activity by walk/run and pace/duration or neither. This could be seen as a personal challenge to users. Personally, I prefer a more interactive challenge so this app is definitely for those that work well alone and without the assisted motivation of a machine like a treadmill. Overall, StepTrakLite is a handy app that gets the basic job done. You can track your results on MapMyWalk.com and the website also offers more resources and tips. You can literally, map out your walk and know how far you will be stepping or running. The only problem that StepTrakLite really poses is its inability to count calories. This is not app for users that are more concerned with caloric quantity over exercise quantity. This app comes highly recommended.
