REVIEW – “Bombing targets with… pumpkins?!”

091509 2125 iPhoneAppRe2 PunkinBlast iPhone App Review I must say this before I get started, I really had no idea what to expect when I saw this app, but I sure did not expect what I got. Russ Campbell has truly come up with a unique and interesting idea in PunkinBlast, and this game is surprisingly fun and addicting.

091509 2125 iPhoneAppRe3 PunkinBlast iPhone App Review I’ll have to admit that when I saw the graphics at the home screen I was a bit skeptical. From here you are given four buttons. There is a “Help” page to teach you to play, an “Options” page to set the difficulty and a few other options, a “High Scores” page, and the “New Game” button.

Once you start the game up you will find that the object is to throw explosive pumpkins at targets that look like pins with square heads to destroy them. The graphics are good, and the physics engine in this game is even better. The way that the pumpkins bounce and fall is very realistic and it makes the game a whole lot of fun.

With each level the targets move into harder and harder places to hit with your pumpkins. You will find as you move to the more difficult levels that it is very helpful to pay attention to the numbers in the bottom left corner. These numbers show the angle and the strength that you throw the pumpkins at.

It manages to be more than just the typical “Solitaire” time kill, without being so involved that you can’t pick it and put it down on a whim. I would recommend this to anyone looking to kill a little time on a budget!

Get ready for some pumpkin chucking fun! Punkin Blast brings the thrill of launching pumpkin bombs to your iPhone and iPod touch. It doesn’t have to be Halloween to enjoy some good ol’ fashion pumpkin destruction!

Fire dynamite packed pumpkins with your catapult to destroy the targets on the playing field! Punkin Blast is no simple point and click game. Your artillery skills will be put to the test! Aim the catapult and adjust power by touching the screen and dragging the targeting reticule. Let go to fire!

Knock down obstacles or bounce off of walls to access and destroy hidden targets.

The display will follow the projectile as it traverses the playing field to give you an exciting 3D view of the shot. Use the targeting reticule to fine tune each launch.
