PhoneFlicks- Netflix for the iPhone (Free)
REVIEW- “Manage your queue straight from your iPhone”
PhoneFlicks is a great addition for iPhone users who are fans of movies and Netflix and would love to manage their queues on the go. Upon opening this app, I found that I could view lots of features from Netflix, including my Netflix queue, instant queue, recent activity, recommendations and reviews. If users do not have a Netflix account, there is an option to try out Netflix for free, straight from the app.
I found the most useful feature of the app to be ‘Search’, because I could search the whole Netflix database, which includes thousands upon thousands of movies to choose from. Once I found the perfect movie I wanted to watch, I could then add it to my queue or Instant queue easily and quickly. If I didn’t know which movie I wanted to watch, I could browse through a ton of movie genres, ranging from Foreign to Classics to Musicals. If I still wasn’t sure what to watch, I could then view the Top 100, New Releases, each movie genre’s Top 25.
When I first heard about PhoneFlicks, I thought it had the ability to play movies. Hopefully in future versions they allow for movies to be played within the app, or at least allow for short previews of each movie. I found that each page loaded quickly and I could view the movie descriptions easily and add them to my queue instantly. If users want to, they can change around the order of the queue with just a tap of a finger.
Overall, I know that this is the only free Netflix app, and I found it worked seamlessly with my Netflix account. I could search thousands of movies and easily add them to the queue when I am away from a computer. I could also access many of Netflix’s features, aside from the movie watching.
