REVIEW – “Finally a voice recorder that just works!”
If you are in need of a tool to keep track of voice notes and get them transcribed, you should definitely take a look at MyDictation! This app offers a variety of tools to make keeping voice memos quick and painless. They even offer a service to securely upload all over your notes wirelessly to their server and make them available to your transcriptionist for a monthly fee.
Many of you will take a look at this app, see that it has been designed with doctors in mind and immediately write it off. I would encourage you not to do so. Even though the wireless upload feature does cost $19.95 a month, this app can still be a very useful app without it. While it is designed to work amazingly well with the MyDictation website, it also has built in software to allow you to download your voice memos directly to your home computer!
When you open this app initially, you are taken directly to the recorder. I’m sure a lot of you are thinking, “but doesn’t the 3.0 software have a voice recorder built in?” Yes, it does, but it does not have the features that this recorder does. One of the best features is that once you start a recording you will notice a drag bar just above the record/pause button with a little microphone icon to the left. This little scroll bar enables you to adjust the sensitivity of the microphone based on your audio source. What that means is you can easily use this to record audio from things like a lecture from class, a song you heard on the radio or even your own voice in very close proximity; all of this without any distortion, because you can easily adjust the sensitivity of the mic.
Another great feature is the ability to easily cut out sections that you didn’t mean to record. The little “scissors” icon at the bottom allows you to cut either a selection made with the yellow bars that start on the left, or everything after the red triangle “play” bar. This makes it easy to remove extra junk that is recorded if someone interrupts you and you forget to turn off the recorder.
