REVIEW—”A liquor lover’s dream!”
Yes, I live in a college town. Yes, it feels like there’s a liquor store on every corner. In fact, there practically is. However, beer’s ability to make my throat swell and close from even the slightest sip make my cheap tailgating endeavors not so. However, I do love the occasional mixed drink in a casual setting. Mixology definitely delivers.
The first step, find a liquor store. Mixology does it for you. Using your current location, Mixology searches and maps the closest liquor stores in your area using Google maps. You can get detailed directions on how to get there as well. As a test, I used my apartment as the location, knowing the closest store was actually right in front of my apartment. Mixology found it,
gave me the address, directions to and from there and the phone number. You can even add the store to your contacts or bookmark it as a location for future reference.
Now to the drinks. You can browse all drinks, but there are sooo many you’ll be browsing all day. Browse by category: cocktails, martinis, shooters, jello shots, hot drinks, punches, and even non-alcoholic drinks for those who want to be social, but still have to drive home. And you can even browse by ingredients. If you’re really into it you can add all the liquor and mixers you have in your cabinet and Mixology will tell you a variety of drinks you can make with what you have.
Not sure what to make at all, but looking for something good? Mixology can take all it’s liquor know how and upon selecting random, give you a slot machine selection that you might want to give a go. Favorite the best drinks of the night for future reference. It’s amazing!!!
Want to know more about bartending. You can do that too! Learn about the different glassware so that you serve drinks in their proper glasses, learn tools of the trade, terminology, how to properly stock your bar and beginning bartending tips and tricks. Who knows, you could find yourself in little part-time gig with this app. Mixology is definitely an app I’m keeping and if you give it a whirl, I’m sure you’ll feel the same way!
