REVIEW- “Conquer the Globe with this amazing app”
The MapBook app is a great addition for those who are active in exploring the world around them, whether it be mountain biking, hiking, or just taking a stroll around the block. MapBook is a new way to track the different routes and paths you take with the added plus of being able to share all that information with other iPhone users who have the MapBook app as well. There are many different sharing levels to choose from and include Public sharing, Private sharing which appears only in searches from people in your Private Sharing List to Personal sharing, which doesn’t appear in any searches. Everyday can lead us to new places or paths and MapBook is an app that helps organize all your new finds in an easy, convenient way. If you are in the mood to explore a certain spot but do not know where to start, users can easily search through paths and places created by other MapBook users. I think this was my favorite feature of the whole app.
While I was playing around with this app, I was definitely surprised at how much information could be recorded. The direction you were heading, how fast you were going, how much time you spent hiking or moving around and more. You can even add pictures to keep tabs on all the scenic sights you come across. The interface of this app was intuitive and visually appealing since it reminded me of an actual map. Creating ‘collections’ or folders of all your records is very easy and I found that it was a great way to keep all your favorite destinations and paths organized. I recommend this app to anyone who wants to keep track of all their destinations and learn more about the world around them by connecting with other MapBook users.

MapBook is a brand new app for organizing, sharing, and discovering
user-generated map content around the world using your iPhone 3G or
3GS. You can record unlimited tracks and points of interest (along with
photos), re-organize them into collections anyway you like, and share
them with friends or the broader MapBook community. You can even
share your maps with non-iPhone and non-MapBook users by emailing
Google Maps links.One of the most distinguishing features of MapBook is the ability to
combine your mapped items with other user’s items to form new map
collections.You can discover new and interesting places and paths as you travel,
using MapBook to search for user-generated content (note that since
MapBook is just beginning it will take some time before server content
exists in some areas — in the meantime you can be the first to map
out the interesting places and paths in your area).MapBook can be used as a training log for runners, bikers, and hikers.
You can use MapBook to find or to share new routes. MapBook can
organize favorite restaurants, fishing holes, attractions, or anything
that can be placed on a map.
