REVIEW – “Arcade golf at a price anyone can afford!”
I don’t know what it is about golf games, but they have always been a mainstay in the world of video games. If you are one of 
those people that has always enjoyed them, you will not be disappointed in this offering from Gameloft! This particular game does not offer big names, or a PGA affiliation, but what it does offer is excellent gameplay, and lots of replay value!
When you first open this game you will be taken to the main menu screen which has five different options. You can do “Instant Play” where it will select a few holes to play at random, do “multiplayer” either wirelessly with another device or on the same device. You can also play in a “Tournament” and earn new 
courses and items in that mode, or just select a course that you would like to play in “Free Hole” mode. The last button is the “Options” button. Here you can set things like “language,” control schemes and even view a tutorial.
The game offers four different courses, and a variety of ways to play through them. You can play just the Front 9, the Back 9, all 18 or even 9 random holes. The different courses offer quite a bit of variety, and the “Random” holes feature is a lot of fun. It also forces you to be good at all of the holes if you want to compete at the higher levels.
you progress through the tournament mode you will start out only being able to play the courses on the “Easy” difficulty” setting, and you will unlock the different difficulties as you win tournaments. This part of the game offers hours and hours of replay value, and was my favorite part of the game.
When you start a round of golf, you will be flown over your first hole to get an idea of what it looks like. When you are ready you just touch the screen. There are two methods of control in this game. I prefer the “Classic” control method but there is also an “Advanced” Mode. You aim your shot the same way in both of them by touching the spot that you want your aim to move towards. You can also view where the shot will land by 
touching the course diagram on the right side of the screen. In “Classic” mode you are given a meter where you touch at the right time for power and then for aim. In “Advanced” mode you actually drag your finger within an arrow on the screen to control the power and accuracy of your shot.
The graphics and physics in this game are fairly impressive, although it would be nice if some of your shots rolled more, like your drives. If you want to change your clubs all you have to do is touch the club icon in the bottom left corner and drag it up or down to your desired club. Your club will also change automatically if you aim in an area that is not ideal for the club that you were holding.
Putting is fairly simple. You get a wire diagram of the green with little dots that move in the direction that the green is sloping. It only took me a few tries to get the hang of how the putting works. You are given a “target” on your putting meter to aim for, but it assumes that the ground is level. What this means is that you need to give it a little extra if your put is uphill, or take a little bit off of it if your put is downhill.
All in all, this game is an extremely good value for $1.99. I can name a whole list of games that cost more than this one that I played a few times and then never opened back up again. If you are a golf lover, or even if you have just always liked golf games this is an app that you should not pass up. If you are still skeptical, there is a free version you can download and try as well. It is only limited by a time trial so you will be able to get a general feel for the game.
