REVIEW – “Access a virtual library from anywhere!”
Amazon.com has long been one of the leaders in the digital book world. Their device called the “Kindle” makes it easy to download and read books anywhere. It is a small light device, but it does not much
functionality besides for reading books. Wouldn’t it be nice if you could download and read those same digital books on your iPhone or iPod Touch? Well now you can with Amazon.com’s Kindle app!
One of the best features of this app is a feature called “Whispersync.” If you have more than one device that you read your books on this feature will sync your current location between all of those devices. So if you are reading a book on your Kindle, and decide to pick up where you left off on 
your iPhone, you will automatically be taken to where you left off on your Kindle!
When you open up the Kindle app you will be taken to the “Home” screen where you will see a list for all of your books. The first thing you will need to do, if you have not already, is sign up for an Amazon.com account and link it with your device. All you have to do is enter your username and password and you should be ready to go! A feature that I would liked to have seen in this apps is to have a way to purchase books from within the app, but at least Amazon did make it easy to get to the right area of their website. The button in the upper right corner of the “Home” screen will take you directly to an iPhone version of Amazon’s Kindle website!
One of the greatest things about Amazon.com is that you can get a chapter long preview of pretty much any book that you might be interested it! Then once you find the book you want you can purchase it at a much cheaper price than a traditional paper book! Amazon’s custom iPhone website makes this extremely simple. I was able to purchase a book in just a few short minutes and be reading it right away!
Once you have your account set up and you have a few books and/or samples of books to take a look at all you have to do is touch one of them from the “Home” screen. This will take you to the reading interface. You navigate through the book by touching the left 
or right side of the screen to turn pages, or by “flicking.” Creating a bookmark is as easy as touching the upper right corner of the screen which will “fold” the corner of that page and save a bookmark.
Is the text too small? Maybe the white screen is a little hard on your eyes? To bring up a menu of options that includes bookmarks, font size a bar to quickly scan through the book and even a button that will take you to the furthest page that has been read in the book
all you have to do is just touch the screen anywhere. Bringing up this menu also brings up a “Home” button in the upper left corner if you want to go look at your list of books.
Now I’m sure, if you’re like me, that you’ve been lying in bed before surfing the internet. Isn’t it frustrating when it keeps switching between portrait and landscape mode because you’re not holding it perfectly straight? Well Amazon has added a feature that completely alleviates that problem in this app. If you touch the bottom right corner of the screen it will “lock” the perspective so that it won’t change as you tilt the device!
To summarize all of this, Kindle for iPhone may not have lots of frilly features, but if you want something that is extremely simple to use, and that just works you can’t go wrong here. The best part about using an app that is backed by Amazon.com is that you have a huge library of books to choose from! If you are an avid reader, but are constantly on the go, you can’t go wrong with this free app from Amazon.com. So don’t wait any longer, go download it today!
