REVIEW – “Top notch castle defense!”
If you are into games strategy games like Command & Conquer or Warcraft you will right at home with this game. Keep Defenders is a castle defense game where you have a top down perspective. Unlike a lot of games of this type, the object is not to build up your base, build lots of troops and then destroy the enemy base. The goal of this game is just to protect your Keep!
When you open Keep Defenders to the main menu you have four options. “New,” “Resume” if you have already started a game previously, “Leaders,” and “Help.” The “Help” button will guide you through all of the controls and unit types, but I would recommend that you just jump right in. The reason is that the game will give you an interactive tutorial as you start out.
Once you are ready to start a game select the “New” option from the menu. When you play for the first time you will only have one location to select from which is called “Green Meadows.” You unlock the 
other two places by finishing the maps that are before them. Once you select your map you then will select the level and difficulty setting that you wish to play on. Easy is simple enough for pretty much anyone to pick up, while the hard setting is very, very difficult!
Overall the graphics and sound in this game have are top notch. Everything about the game just feels polished and like there was thought put into it. While the game play is not as complex as similar games of this type, for some people I think that will be a plus. This is a game that is easy to pick up for a few minutes and then set aside for later, which really makes it an ideal candidate for a game on a mobile platform!
The gameplay is very simple and intuitive. To control a unit all you have to do is touch it. You can then set that unit to be in “Defense” mode where it will hold its ground until something comes and attacks it, and “Attack” mode where it will attack the first enemy unit that comes within its line of sight. To move 
somewhere or attack something all you have to do is touch the location that you want to perform the action at.
You can also grab a group of units by touching the “Group” button at the bottom of the screen and then touching the screen and dragging a box around the units that you would like to control. I you like you can also set “Defense,” or “Attack” mode on your selected group of units by using the same buttons as with individual units.
The first few waves of bad guys in this game are fairly easy, but things quickly get hectic. I was particularly impressed with the enemy AI in this game. It does a good job of making things difficult without overwhelming you. For example, if you just barely make it through a wave, usually the next wave is a fairly weak one because it knows that you are still trying to strengthen your army back up!
Honestly I would expect a game of this caliber to be in the $4-$5 range, and maybe that is where it will end up. That’s why you need to take advantage of the special price that the developer is offering for a limited time of just $1.99! If you enjoy fast paced strategy games, and you’ve been looking for something that will also have a lot of replay value, I would highly recommend that you head to the App Store today before deal runs out!
