REVIEW – “A unique perspective on working out”
There have been lots of different apps that relate to physical fitness in the App Store. Unfortunately, very few of them have actually been very useful. I am happy to report that while this may be a true
fact, Interval Trainer GO is not only very useful is a fairly unique idea as well. ITGO is an “interval” trainer that will allow you to design workouts designed around the idea of working extremely hard and slowing down over and over.
When you open up Interval Trainer GO the first thing that will happen is that it will ask you if you want to turn off sleep mode while it is running. Once you decide whether or not to allow sleep
mode you will be taken to the main “Timer “ screen. On this screen you will see a large wheel which is the timer. Touching the timer will ask you if you want to set up a”Warm/Cool” time or not.
The basic idea of this app is that you will work out more efficiently if you work out hard for a few seconds and then slow down in regular intervals. At the bottom of the screen are buttons to take you to the other two screens of this app which are the “Settings,” and “Sounds” screens. The “Settings’ screen is fairly self explanatory. You have three wheels and a click button. These three wheels are used to control the
“interval” which sets how long for it to keep you in “fast” mode, the “Ratio” which sets the ratio of fast time to slow time and the “Session” button which will set how long your session will take.
The final screen of this app is the “Sounds” screen, and it holds some of this apps best features. From here you can set Audio “prompts” so that you get an audible reminder when you switch between slow and fast modes, or if you finish up. Just below that and the
volume control are the native iPod controls. ITGO is different than many other training apps in that it allows you to have two different playlists to keep you motivated as you work out. You can have a “slow” list and a “fast” list. These lists automatically start playing based on whether you are supposed to be running or walking.
In all of my testing I did not notice any major problems, and everything seemed to work exactly as I expected it to. While it may have been a little confusing to get started with this app, once you understand what it is for and how to use it, it works flawless thee. If you are a workout junkie and you constantly are doing workouts that require you to work in short intervals, this may be the solution that you have been looking for. But hurry and grab it today before their $1.99 introductory order ends!

The TIMER screen displays your progress for total session time and current fast/slow interval time.

ITGO’S operation is based around three main screens; the Timer, Settings and Audio screens.
➀ Users start by selecting their session workout time, the fast interval duration and the slow/fast interval ratio. Users can also choose to switch the vibration alerts on or off on this page.
➁ Next, users can switch to the Audio page to select music from their onboard iPod library for the separate slow and fast playlists. The Audio page also includes options to choose audio prompts, select the playlist play mode and volume settings for the prompts and music.
➂ Finally users switch to the Timer screen and after selecting a warm up and cool down length from zero to 3 minutes, start their workout. ITGO’s timers then count down the intervals in circular segments and displays individual numerical timers for the fast and slow intervals and total session duration as well as the currently playing song and provides double vibration alerts at each interval change.
➃ The music playlists can be set to shuffle, repeat or just play in order.
