REVIEW – “Gun Simulator”
iHandgun is considered one of the best and most interactive pistol apps available at the iTunes store. One of the things that surprised me right away when I downloaded iHandgun was how realistic the images were. There was no mistaking what the app was about. The images are clear and it is easy to pull, load, and shoot. There is also a satisfying sound after shooting.
The user interface feels very hands-on. You can pull back the trigger, slide to reload, and shoot just like you would a real gun. Loading the gun is very realistic. With the recent update, there are also two guns to choose from. The main selection screen has an appealing silver menu. Some of the effects I really enjoyed on this app include the realistic gunshot sounds, the suppressed sound from the silencer, gun fire, smoke from the muzzle, seeing and hearing ejected cartridges, blowback animation and being able to pull out and insert the magazine manually by dragging or shaking the gun.
This app is very realistic but could benefit from a few more choices. After you first play with it and enjoy the sensation of hearing the sound and moving all the parts, you want to have more choices and a target. The graphics however are very well done.
For a free app, I think the iHandgun succeeds in grabbing your attention with its realistic appeal and simple interface. It would be nice to see a couple more gun and pistol options as well as the ability to earn or track points.
