iBowl (Free)
Version 6.1
REVIEW – “Strike and score!”
If you like bowling, then you know it’s all about practice, and more practice. The downfall is the fact that you have to take the time to get to that bowling alley and rent a lane. Fortunately, you now have the chance to practice wherever you are, no matter if it’s at work, in the park, or in the comfort of your home. iBowl is a free iPhone and iPod Touch application that simulates the real thing.
iBowl uses iPhone and iPod’s Touch accelerometer to give a more realistic gaming experience to the player. The game has an intuitive interface, and shows the player looking down at a bowling lane. The player needs to center the ball, push the “Bowl” button and then imitate a real bowling strike, using their device. This means the player actually has to swing his/her arm back and forward, just like he would when using a real bowling ball. It’s as simple as that.

Version 6.1, is completely free has some other nice features, like the option to choose your ball’s color and send your score to a friend so that you can compete with each other. This is done by opening an email and sending it, which isn’t really a multiplayer/online play option, but it works, nevertheless. iBowl proves to gives you a pretty competitive bowling simulator, considering the fact that it is a free application. If you are a bowling fan, or simply want to enjoy yourself for a while, then you should give it a try. The only thing you have to worry about is not to launch your iPod or iPhone on the virtual lane, since you have to keep you finger on the centered Bowl button!
