REVIEW – “Surprisingly addictive gameplay and great graphics make Fifa 10 a winner!”
I’d like to start off this review by saying that I’m not a huge soccer fan. With that thought in mind it was absolutely crazy how much I enjoyed this game. The controls are top-notch, there is plenty of variety of 
play modes and the graphics are simply stunning! Even if you are not a huge fan of soccer there is a good chance that you will enjoy this game!
One of the things I did notice is that after a while the menu music gets very repetitive and the in-game commentary gets a little annoying as well. Thankfully when the music starts to get annoying you are able to use music from your iPod library if you wish. The option is buried a little bit under “Game Settings,” but it works quite well.
Once you are ready to play a game you are presented with a wide variety of ways to play. If you don’t want to mess with details but you just want to play football, all you have to do is press the “Kick Off” button. You’ll then get to pick your team, opponent and a few other basic options and then you’ll be on your way!
The game play screen consists of a few easy to use controls, and they are customizable as well. The default configuration is to have a “control stick” in the bottom left corner and two buttons, “A” and “B” in the bottom right 
corner. There are all kinds of different things you can do with the two buttons. You can shoot a short or long pass depending on how long you hold do the A button and you can also us the “A” button to get a little physical with an opposing offensive player.
When you start a new game for the first time, all of the different controls are explained. There is even a “practice” mode where you can go and work on various techniques without a defense constantly in your face. The game does a good job, for the most part, of describing exactly how 
to use each different technique. The simple interface with a control pad and two buttons makes everything extremely easy to pick up.
While it does take a minute to get used to controlling everything with a touch screen “joystick,” it was surprisingly accurate and easy to do. I was making fancy dribble moves and scoring goals in no time at all! If you happen get a phone call or have to leave your game, all of your progress is saved for the next time you start up the app. You can also pause the game and/or set up all of the game options by touching the pause button, which is constantly at the top of the screen.
As I really got into this game the depth of gameplay options and achievements manage to give this game a lot more replay value than I thought it would have. There are just a couple of things that I would really like to see added to this game. The first is some kind of real-time stat tracking. Unfortunately 
none of your season or “pro career” stats are saved, nor can they even be viewed during a game. There are of course the entire team stats, but individual stats are not tracked at all in this game. The second thing I would like to see is a feature to record video of the replay highlights. It’s cool to be able to view a replay right after you make the play, but it would be even cooler to be able to save that memory permanently.
Besides these rather minor feature requests that I had, I must say that this is by far one of the most polished games I have seen in the App Store to date. If you are a fan of soccer, or even if you just enjoy playing sports games in general, you should at least take a look at Fifa 10 by EA. The combination of jaw-dropping graphics, coupled with amazingly fluid gameplay, make this game one of the elite sports apps available for download. So what are you waiting for?
