Need to know when things are up and when they’re down? Ready to trade morning, noon and night, and even when you’re on the go? Check out the E*Trade mobile app.
This app syncs with your online account so you can literally take E*Trade with you wherever you go. While that might not seem like a necessity to some people, it might be if you are serious about your money, the markets and keeping an eye on both.
When you first fire up this app, you get a clear picture of the market. You can choose from DOW, NASDAQ or S&P 500. Tap each one to get a quick picture of where the markets are, how far up or down they might be, and what the trading volume is. Move to the bottom of your home screen to read headlines (and stories if you wish) from MarketWatch.com.
If you enter a symbol, you can read news specific to a particular company, which can be useful if you are contemplating making some trade moves.
You can do all of these things without ever logging onto your account. But log on and you get a clear picture of your particular financial interests. You can see your portfolio (or at least as much of your overall portfolio that is held at E*Trade), and get all your account information.
They say you can’t take it with you when you go, but you truly can with E*Trade mobile. If you can take Twitter, your instant messaging and bank account information with you when you leave the house, why not also your portfolio? If you see something you need to deal with, or a purchase you need to make, you can act on it immediately.
In these uncertain times, it’s a comfort to know that you can take your financial information with you and it’s still safe and secure in your hands, literally.

i tested this for both general users (no E*trade Pro accounts – http://bit.ly/9ss4qP) and for E*Trade pro users. The free features is nothing to write home about…99% like the standard iPhone stock app, but the Pro features are pretty awesome!
