I am not sure whether to say it is pathetic to contemplate switching banks based on whether or not they have an app for it, but it is something that is seriously considered when I am ready for some changes. And when I recently switched to Chase Bank, it was both comforting and convenient to know that yes, there is an app for that particular bank and yes, all the information that I need will be right at my fingertips – just taps away.

Chase Mobile, a free app, is essential to any Chase Bank Member. As a new member to Chase, I wasn’t entirely sure what I was getting myself into by switching banks after being such a loyal customer to another bank that shall remain nameless (you know who you are), but I found that the switch was very easy. Let me start by saying this, I bank was set up entirely online, I never once had to step foot inside of a bank to set up my new accounts – both checking and savings. That said, here is why the Chase Mobile app is so awesome.

First, everything you need is contained within this app. The title screen allows you log on, contact Chase or find an ATM or branch near you – all very handy. The log on allows you to keep your login information stored so that you only have to enter in your password – this actually saves a lot of time if you forget your login, like me.

Once logged on, the interface is very simple and allows for quick, direct access to any your accounts. Unlike some of the other apps that will give you pending and cleared transactions on different screens, Chase Mobile reads exactly like a check ledger – if you were to keep one. It stores a running tally of your balance as well as all of the purchases, deposits, etc. Like I said, easy to use.

The Bill Pay function is also as if you were paying bills at your computer and is actually easier (and cheaper) than mailing a check. Once your bill pay is initially set up (this has to be done online), it is a matter of choosing a payee and clicking submit. As long as the funds are in your account, the transaction can be made.

Lastly, and aside from the abundance of contact information and customer service help, this app allows you to easily transfer money within your accounts.  Although there is not an option to transfer money as you do within your own accounts, there is another option to wire transfer money somewhere else; unfortunately I am not enrolled in that so I couldn’t try it out. But if it is anything like the other functions within this app, it will be easy too, I am sure.

I honestly have no complaints about this app. It gives me unlimited access to my account in a very direct and simple way. With mere taps, I am able to check my balance, transfer money or pay a bill. Computer, who needs that? I have the Chase Mobile app!
