Amateur Surgeon ($2.99)
Version 1.0.2
REVIEW- “A digustingly fun game that makes you cringe as much as it makes you laugh.”
If you were ever a fan of Trauma Center or you just wanted to see what it is like to use a pizza cutter to perform surgery then Adult Swim is looking out for you. In this game that you hope to never see become a reality you play a moronic pizza delivery guy who decides to learn how to perform surgery on his pool table. He gets the aid of a doctor he nearly ran over and as the game progresses he learns more and more about surgical techniques.
This game is one that I refrained from trying for awhile because as much as I did like playing Trama Center, the idea of an amateur surgeon has never been one that appealed to me. But I eventually bucked down and tried it because I had heard so many people say that it was a fun game that I finally started it. The game works in much the same way as trauma center with people unfortuantely making their way to your pool table in need of surgery.
The game operates with the doctor telling you everything you need to do. Your tools start off as a pizza cutter, salad tongs, a lighter, stapler and the doctor’s own pain gel. To operate you click the tool you need and simply touch and drag to use the tool. The includes making incisions, removing glass and so much more. You’ll cringe each time you staple a wound shut and cauterize it but you’ll laugh whenever one of the cut scenes appears. The mornonic pizza guy and doctor (who mysteriously lost a number of patients) always seems to stumble upon people who somehow manage to get themselves hurt enough to agree to a pool table operation.
The game includes 30 different surgeries and you’ll have so much fun that you will go through them in no time. Then you’ll be ready to go through them again just to try and improve your score.
You must be 17 or older to download this game as these are things you definitely do not want to try at home. Adult Swim is known for creating controversial games that somehow manage to still make us laugh even as we are not sure we want to support the premise of the game.
The graphics are very artistic and cartoony which only adds to the funny factor of the game and keeps it from becoming too gross. I enjoyed playing this game much more than I thought I would but the premise still grosses me out, which is of course half the point. In the end this game is a great little version of Trauma Center for the iphone but all the seriousness of Trauma Center is replaced but quirky comedy.
