I recently decided to become a member of the largest motor club association in the US and other than knowing I have someone to come get my locked keys out of the car or change my tire (I am not one of those modern, independent women who knows how to change her own, sorry), I wasn’t really sure what else being a member of this club offered. I remember countless road trips as a child with AAA books from every state we would pass through, but other than the roadside assistance and free map books, what else do you get?

Among the countless and amazing things that the iPhone offers, apps really top the list, in my opinion. When I discovered the AAA Discounts app, I thought, well, I’m a member and have yet to pull that shiny card out of my wallet, so let’s see what this is all about. For those of you who are thinking, you can check their website, let me explain how the app goes so much farther than the website. The initial screen is a map that automatically tracks your location and shows you all of the places within a certain radius that are currently offering discounts to AAA members. Click on one of the pins and the company name pops us, click on the arrow and the company information is showed along with the offer and additional information about that particular company. It really is easy to use and great to know what discounts are being offered in your area or wherever you happen to be.

Around my area I discovered discounts that I would have never dreamed. In addition to the restaurant and hotel discounts being offered, I was given offers for prescriptions, framing, retail

shopping, the florist, the UPS store – I mean seriously, who knew all of those offers were out there just waiting to be used? And if the pins just aren’t your thing, because I could see how they would be difficult to read, AAA Discounts gives you the option of showing your offers by list. Everything about this app is easy, convenient and only stands to benefit you.

If you aren’t interested in all of the hotels popping up and cluttering your map, don’t worry. The Discount Types section allows you to choose what discounts you are interested in seeing. This is especially convenient when you have food on the brain and you really only want to see what options you have for dining. I found this helpful on more than one occasion and especially when I was out of town. Once your offer is selected, AAA will also map the route for you via the maps option or a turn by turn directions option – either way, it isn’t likely to get lost when finding your way to the sweet discounts awaiting you.

The AAA Discounts app is very helpful. I know that I don’t always have time to look things up online before I leave or maybe there is something that springs to mind while I am already out – this app allows for all of that and more. You can easily search any and all of the categories that AAA currently offers discounts. Your member number is saved in the application so carrying your card may not always be necessary to take advantage of what they have to offer. Download this app now to start saving.
