REVIEW – “Zombies”
Zombies Live is one of several MMORPG’s that Storm8 LLC has released for the iPhone and iPod Touch. These games are very similar in style to games such as Mob Wars on Facebook and MySpace, except that they are played exclusively on mobile devices.
When you open this game for the first time you will be taken through a tutorial. It is highly recommended that you complete the tutorial phase, because if you do you will receive a bonus to get you started!
Game play here is pretty basic. The basic idea is that you recruit members into your zombie “horde,” learn new attacks, and set “traps” to help gain more flesh to strengthen yourself. Along the way you can also battle other people playing the game, complete “Missions” to gain more flesh and EXP, and continue to upgrade your character as you level up in battle. You can even keep your flesh safe from oncoming attackers by using the “Butchery”.
One of the fun things about this game, and also for one of its downfalls, is the fact that the game is always going on. You can get attacked even when you’re not online, and you also accrue money when the app is not opened as long as you have more money being brought in from property than is being spent on keeping your weapons in good shape.
Fortunately, this game manages to be fun, without being so addicting that it consumes your whole life like some MMORPG’s can. I would highly recommend this game, especially if you are a casual gamer that really enjoys social networking games. Also keep an eye out for free versions of Zombies Live that will add “Loyalty Points” to your account for free. Favor points will allow you to do things like get free flesh and gain extra recruits for your horde!
