WikiTap is an app that brings Wikipedia and more to your iPhone or iPod Touch. Go ahead, do a search and you’ll be wowed by the number of results. Selected an entry brings you to the Wikipedia page, or, you can also use WikiTap as a dictionary and thesaurus.
Dictionary results will have (definition) after the title as a clue you’ll be seeing a dictionary entry instead of a Wikipedia entry. Wikipedia entries are as complete as they are on the website, but if you want to see the contents of the page you have to tap a separate tab and then tap back to the main entry page. If applicable you can even view relevant videos.
Every search I tried turned up a TON of results. Whatever you are looking for, WikiTap has you covered. Even my search for “hummus” gave me pages of results. That’s right, pages. Related words turn up in your searches, so if you are looking for hummus you can also view information on pita and Palestinian people.
If you find something particularly interesting you can email the information to yourself or to a friend.
While the exhaustive search results are at times useful, they are also the biggest downside to this app. The entry you are looking for could be buried pretty deep in the search results. The best way to combat this is to be as detailed as possible in your search. Results start popping up as soon as you start to type so feel free to play around with your query until you get what you need.
WikiTap brings all of Wikipedia to you, wherever you go. This app is for the information junkie or curious searcher.

Finding any information in Wikipedia or dictionary is easier than finding a contact in your phone! Tap in just a few characters and you can search and find any Wikipedia topic or any English word. One more tap and you can watch videos relevant to the topic, or listen to how the word is pronounced. Wikitap is a great reference for Encyclopedia, Pronunciation, Thesaurus and more.
What’s more, you can actively participate by adding videos or pictures to a wikipedia topic of your interest.
