REVIEW – “Keep up with the leaders of the world on your iPhone”
This app is meant for those who want to keep up with the Financial Times, an award winning magazine and website that covers global financial news, comments, analysis and more. Users do need to keep in mind that they need to be subscribers in order to have unlimited access to articles and need to register in order to read more articles and access the FT.com portfolio. If users do not sign up, they are limited to viewing 3 articles per month. I was impressed with the interface of this app because it allowed for quick viewing of articles and separated all articles into categories. I found each feature to load very quickly and I was able to search through thousands of articles for any particular topic I wanted with the ‘Search’ feature.
I could also view the global market share that was also organized into Market Movers, Commodities, Bonds as well as view it in a map view. Although the Financial Times app is already packed with features to appease any Financial Times reader, there is also a currency converter included with this app as well. There are more than twenty country currencies which makes this app useful for the financial-savvy users. I found the articles included in the Financial Times feed to be extensive and included all types of news, not just those concerning finances.
For those who are avid readers of the Financial Times, they will be disappointed that they are only able to view 3 articles per month. I do think that is a bit limiting but there are other features in this app that can entertain readers.
I think this app is a great representation of the orginal Financial Times magazine and website and would be great for those who want to keep on top of all the latest financial news. Do keep in mind that there is a limit to reading articles, but if you become a subscriber you have access to those and much more.
