REVIEW – “Tower Defense at its finest!”
I have seen a lot of free games in the App Store, and very few of them offer the replay value of this app. LL Group has developed an app that feels finished, and is completely free! It takes the concept of tap defense and brings it to your mobile device in a way that feels natural and intuitive.
There are a variety of game play options, and a tutorial that will walk you through basic game play. The idea of TapDefense is that you have to stop the enemies from walking from the entrance to the exit. The enemies always follow a specific route to their goal that is marked by a path. The way you stop them is by building various different types of towers that fire different kinds of projectiles at them.
Along the way you earn gold, and “halos” which allow you to research different types of towers, or perks. You can also increase your “interest rate” to get more gold each round! The only “paid” part of this app is that it is possible to unlock two extra towers if you either buy one of their other paid apps or complete one of the offers that they have listed from their sponsors.
One of my favorite features of this app is that there is a global high score list. But not just an overall high score list, there is a separate list for each map, game type and level pack. And speaking of levels, maps and game types; there are plenty of them to keep you interested for hours on end!
If you have never played TapDefense or any similar “Tower Defense” games, this is an absolute must have game for your iPhone or iPod Touch. Of all the games that I have on my phone, I probably play this one the most, and it’s free!!
