093009 0536 iPhoneAppRe2 StickWars Lite iPhone App Review StickWars Lite is the free version of John Hartzog’s Tower Defense game. The basic idea is that you have to stop the “stick-man army” from destroying your wall. You do this by grabbing them and throwing them, or by using one of the other attack methods that you can buy as you get further into the game.

The artwork, menus and options in this game are top notch, and the advertisements that support this free app are not invasive, they appear in-between rounds. When you start this game you are taken to the main menu where you can start a new game, load an old game, or get help, or set your preferences in the “Options” menu. One of the best features of this game is that it saves your progress after every level, and that there is more than one save slot. All you have to do to change to another save slot is go to the options menu and select the one that you want to use.

093009 0536 iPhoneAppRe3 StickWars Lite iPhone App Review The Options menu also has some other options like difficulty, Sound Effects, “Shake to Deploy” bombers, Music, and you can even set the amount of blood that spurts out of the dead stick figures as they tumble to their deaths. The high score list feature uses a social network to compare your scores to other StickWars players. Unfortunately this feature is pretty useless with the Lite version of this app because you are limited to 20 levels of game play.

Once you actually get into the game play, the action may start out slow, but the pace quickly changes to fast and furious! The farther you progress the more methods for destroying your wall the stick figures employ, but also the more features you get enough money to unlock. You can use bombs, archers, capture them in prison, repair your wall during battle or even employ the use of wizards!

This game is very difficult to put down once you get started, and I think you’ll find that you will definitely want to spend the mere $0.99 that the full version of this app costs to continue on past level 20. I would highly recommend this app to anyone that loves Tower Defense games!
