REVIEW – “An app that puts it all in black and white!”
There are so many camera apps out that it’s hard to know which ones are going to be useful and which of them will just be a waste of time. It would be nice if Apple came up with their own filters and features for the camera, but until they decide to do so, we’ll just have to keep relying on third-party developers to deliver.
This camera app from Dendrocom is designed for sharpening up pictures and making them look old or black and white. The app itself is pretty simple and pretty self-explanatory. When you open the app, you are greeted by a screen that describes the different things that the app can do with pictures and to buttons at the top of the screen.
The button at the top left opens up the camera and asks you to take a picture from within the app. The button on the right goes to where your pictures are stored on your device so that you can select one of them to edit. The picture taking mechanism is pretty easy and does just as good as the default camera included in your device, and gives you the option to retake the picture if you didn’t get the one that you wanted.
Once you have either taken your picture, or selected one from your device, you are given several options at the bottom of the screen. You can adjust the contrast, use a color filter (black and white in different shades or purple in different shades), vignette (which focuses in on the center of the picture), or do a square crop of the image. All of these features are easy to use and work as you would expect.
As well as the features of this app work, it just does not have enough filters to be useful for most types of picture editing. But the filters that this app does have work well and the app is free so it is hard to complain. If you are looking for an app just to crop a picture, make it black and white, or focus on the center, this app will do the trick; however, if you are looking for something to do major modifications to the pictures you take on your phone, you will quickly get bored with this app.

DEVELOPERS NOTES
Built with speed and ease of mind, Snap filters lets you apply simple filters to your photos (taken from within the application or loaded from your library) and make the most out of your iPhone’s camera.
It only takes a few seconds to review three styles of coloring filters (from desatured to intense) with a choice of nine tints for each (the center image is always the one that isn’t colorized), or two types of black-and-white processing (regular or with added contrast), simulating taking a picture with a color filter on your lens( the difference won’t always be spectacular, but you can choose the variation that makes details pop). One more button and you can choose from different styles and intensities of vignetting, and toggle whether to crop the photo to a square.
Snap Filters remembers your settings from one photo to another, so if you find a style you like, you’ll never have to change the settings again. But if you’re the obsessive type, you can have fun quickly going through each of the filters to find the perfect setting for each of your pictures.

(NOTE: You can change the size of the output image by tapping the half-hidden button that appears right above the “Save” button. We’ll try to make that more obvious in a future update.)
