REVIEW – “Free MMS between iPhones!”
If you are like me you are probably pretty tired of waiting for AT&T to support MMS on your iPhone. There have been lots of “solutions” from various software companies for this obvious deficiency in the iPhone and Messi.im is another attempt at it.
This is basically an app designed to feel like MMS by allowing you to send Instant Messages and receive them with pictures attached in real-time using 3.0’s push capability. The main problem is that the only functionality that this app really adds to a traditional IM client is the ability to tag your messages with your current location.
Overall the app functions pretty good. The interface is simple, as is registering for an account. It is easy to quickly scan through and read and/or delete messages when you are finished with them. The friends list is also easy to scan through, although some type of “folder-based” sorting might have been a nice addition here.
All of that said, I’m just not so sure that Messi.im offers enough features to differentiate itself from other IM clients that are already available with more widespread adoption, such as Yahoo IM, AIM and MSN. While that may be true, it definitely can’t hurt to take a look because this app is free after all. It may be just what you were looking for!

With Messi.im you can easily send your friends an instant message. This message can also include
- Your location
- A picture
If your friend also uses Messi.im he will receive a Push Notification. This is a bit like sending an MMS or an SMS.
If your friend does not use Messi.im you can send a quick email from within Messi.im which also includes your location and a picture.
