 REVIEW – “Follow the most famous virtual Russian girl on your iPhone!”

  Masyanya Comics Lite is an app that follows the virtual Russian girl Masyanya, created by Oleg Kuavaev, in her daily life with her best friends. I was excited to download this app, even though I have never heard of Masyanya before, because I was curious to see what a foreign comic had to offer. Downloading this app was easy, although there was a disclaimer that made me confirm my age before downloading.

Obviously this comic is meant for mature audiences, and I am grateful that Apple prevents children from downloading this on accident with their disclaimer. Upon opening this app, I was greeted with a colorful title page showing Masyanya and her best friends, as well as a voice that announced “Masyanya!” There was a bit of lag while loading each comic, but it wasn’t too bad.

I simply swiped the screen in order to turn the pages. I could also touch the Information button at the top of the screen if I wanted to change the way pages were turned, as well as skip to pages quickly. I could also view more information about Eurobooks or Masyanya. Each story of the comic was very short and the jokes were to the point. I would have like a Table of Contents after the introduction screen to enhance the comic reading experience. I found each comic to be very entertaining because Masyanya had a blunt sense of humor that I could relate to. The graphics were well designed and visually appealing.

All in all, I would recommend this app to anyone who wants to get a taste of Russia’s most famous virtual girl and laugh away!
