REVIEW—”You don’t want to lose it. Lose It! Is a keeper!”
There’s no easy way to make an app like this. I mean, nutrition and weight loss are complicated things, but FitNow has come the closest to perfection one can get.
From its launch, Lose It! is an app that won’t let you down. A few quick steps like date of birth, body weight, height and weight loss goal and you’re on your way. Lose anywhere from ½ pound a week to 2 pounds a week and Lose It! will give you the tools to monitor and obtain that goal in a time frame you select. For example, if I started right now, losing 2 pounds a week, I’d reach 140 by October 9, 2009! Lose It then gives you a daily caloric intake recommendation and helps you monitor it.
Did you have an apple and toast for breakfast, more specifically, rye toast? Want to know how many calories that’s worth? Simply put it into LoseIt!’s search and LoseIt! will give you the estimated amount of calories. Do the same with all of your food, from McDonald’s to homemade lasagna. Of course, it’s worth noting that these are merely rough estimates, and some specialty brands or food types, like organic, may not be represented.
Along with this, LoseIt! tracks your workouts. 10 mile run? 40 minutes on the elliptical at an intense speed? Search it in LoseIt!, enter your intensity, and LoseIt! will give you the estimated calories lost. It may be a little more or a little less than the machine at the gym told you, but not by much.

These forces combine to bring you…the ultimate weight loss tracking system. You’ll see how many of the recommended calories you are consuming, how many you’re losing, and how much weight you’ve lost to date.
My only real qualm with LoseIt! is that, as an athlete, I feel that LoseIt! should recommend an intake for you based on your workout habits. That way users aren’t burning more calories and consuming fewer calories that there body needs to sustain itself. Aside from that, I’d say it’s a great app for all users of all ages, but users should know how to be healthy before becoming too dedicated to the application just to be on the safe side.
