Language Translator quickly translates typed in phrases into one of 41 supported languages. This app uses the Google Translator as its powerhouse, so you can trust the reliability of your translation.
This app will automatically recognize the language you are entering text in, or you can select from a pull down menu. Then you just select the target language and you’re done. The app will even take your translated text for you and put it back in the first box of entered text if you want to re-translate again.
All this said, Language Translator has its limitations. First, it doesn’t pronounce anything for you. So if you are unfamiliar with the language you are translating into, this app won’t help you with your spoken skills at all.
For an app that only produces text, Language Translator has a second problem. You can’t copy and paste your translated text to anywhere other than the entry box of the app. So if you are translating something for an email, you’ll have to re-enter the words manually.
Like most translators, this app doesn’t always translate clearly, or well. But this is the problem of all automatic translators and shouldn’t be a reflection solely of Language Translator. This app uses Google’s Translator which is better than most, but because of this you will need to be connected to the internet. Don’t expect Language Translator to translate a phrase into Norwegian when you are in the countryside.
The best use for this app is translating written words into your native language. Maybe letters or emails from family abroad, directions that only come in Spanish or any other foreign text you may encounter. Just type it in and Language Translator will flip it into English, or any other supported language, for you. You don’t even need to know the original language as this app will recognize as you type. This is the probably the best way to utilize this app.
Even with its limitations, Language Translator has enough to offer the right user.
