REVIEW – “The handheld Huffington Post”
The HuffingtonPost.com app is, not surprisingly, a portable Huffington Post. This app crams the internet newspaper into something you can easily take with you.
On the home page of The HuffingtonPost.com app, you’ll find the days’ headlines, scrollable and with different colored titles. The colors must align with certain topics, since all environmental and green energy articles are green.
The content of The HuffingtonPost.com app is the same as the website. There are original articles, AP filler and content from other newspapers, like the New York Times. Once you open an article you can move up and down the list of articles by using arrow buttons in the upper right hand corner – no need to go back to the main page.
This app also delivers video content. Each video has a written introduction, so content isn’t just plopped down. Videos range from Sherri Shepherd of “The View” getting a bikini wax to news footage of the Columbian government accusing Venezuela of providing weapons to rebels.
If you only care about entertainment news, the main menu of The HuffingtonPost.com app has a section devoted solely to entertainment news. The same goes for those users who care more about political coverage. Other topics can be found individually under to “more” button, which takes you to a menu of topics like business, style and living.
The list of articles is exhaustive, so you can’t ask to see more after you scroll to the bottom. But content is updated regularly, as long as you have a wi-fi connection your HuffingtonPost.com app will keep itself recent.
For news and entertainment on the go, this app is easy enough to use – even if it does seem to require a few taps to get to the content you want, nothing is buried too deeply. If you are the type that needs to be linked in to a news feed, The HuffingtonPost.com may help you fill that need.
