REVIEW- “Let How 2 Draw teach you the basics of illustration!”
How 2 Draw is an interesting app that allows its users to learn the basics of drawing human faces. I was impressed with the layout of this app right away. There was a list of faces that you could begin to draw, but the developer does add that first time users go with ‘Charles’. Hands down, my favorite feature of this app was the ability to Photo Compare your drawings with the instructions. This ensures that any mistakes you may have can be corrected before it’s too late in the drawing process. I love when apps use the iPhone’s built-in camera and this app definitely used the camera in a new, innovative way.
I loved the comic book script and was surprised to find that the author of the drawings has published comic books for almost a decade. This app is definitely well worth the download especially when you keep in mind that you have a great drawing tutor! There was a variety of different faces to choose from, ranging from women and children to old men. Hopefully in future versions of the app, developers can add even more faces as well as animals, objects, buildings, etc. Learning how to draw was so simple with the instructions given in this app and I found myself impressed with the drawings I created.
While I was reading the instructions for each face, I was happy that there were descriptions at the top to explain each step. The author debunks common misconceptions about drawing. For example, drawing eyes is said to be hard to do, but with a couple steps you’ll be drawing perfect eyes in no time. The interface of the app was intuitive and allowed me to draw and photo compare while on the go.
All in all, I think this app is great for those who want to learn how to draw faces in an easy to learn format. Instructions are a breeze to follow and the images you create are bound to impress you!
