Fast and Furious, the movie was a success, since it presented fast cars, pretty women, action and lots of NO2. The thing that was perhaps most desired by all the fans of the series was to feel that they are cruising at 150 in one of the tuned out cars from the movie. Now their dream came true, with the launch of the free app for the iPhone, Fast & Furious The Game Test Drive.
As in the motion picture, the game is about racing against two other drivers in an underground battle. The winner gets the pink slip, thus taking ownership of your opponent’s car. The car that you win will be added in your garage, and you will be able to use it in any race (that is, only if you don’t lose a race, along with the pink slip). In Fast & Furious The Game Test Drive, since it’s not the full version of the game, you will be able to play only against the computer, while in the full version you can race with other players.
The game’s graphics are not a breath-taker but they are okay, and most importantly they give you the feeling of speed, which, combined with the realistic sound of the engine gives you an exciting gameplay that can be really addictive.
In terms of playability, the game has a control system that takes full advantage of the iPod Touch’s and the iPhone’s accelerometer, and it’s really easy to play. In most racing games on iPhone/iPod you have pedals on the touchscreen, and you have to use them to control the acceleration or breaking system. Fast & Furious The Game, both in the Test Drive and in full version, got rid of that: it has a auto-accelerate feature, and if you want to break or go in reverse you have to simply tap the screen. The control of the car (left-right) is done tilting your device in the desired direction.
The test drive of Fast & Furious The Game, is a nice experience and I highly recommend it for racing fans everywhere.
