REVIEW – “Keeping Doctors up to date!”
Most doctors have one thing in common and that is that they are very busy! With so many different options in the app store for getting up to date information about various medical practices how are they supposed to sift through them all and find which ones offer the information they need? Well for those busy doctor’s this app will slim down the process.
The most unique thing about this app is that rather than supply you with vast amounts of information, it gives you select “tips” and there is a great deal of information and full length articles behind each one of them. The first thing that you see once you are logged into this app is a quick splash screen with an ad. It is not intrusive and is very easy to skip through, remember, this app is free!
Once you make it past the opening page you are taken to the “New Tip” page. This page will show you the first section of the newest “tip” and give you the option to go straight to the full text of the article if it interests you. In the upper right corner of the screen you will find a “+” button. This allows you to bookmark where you are at in this article and also in any other article you might be reading with this app. Your bookmarks can be easily accessed at any time by pressing the “Bookmarks” tab at the bottom of the screen.
The other tabs at the bottom of the screen will allow you find information you are looking for. The “All Tips” tab shows you all of the tips for the specialty that you have selected under the “info” tab. I would have appreciated more descriptive titles, or maybe even some pictures on this page, but the way it is set up does make it very quick to browse through a large number of tips. The “Search” tab works exactly as expected, but it is a little slow, especially if you are on the edge network because it is searching over the internet.
With all of that said, I have pretty much detailed everything there is about this app. Unlike most of the applications in this genre, this app is very to the point and can be quickly looked over. It does all of this, and yet still manages to bring a wealth of in depth information on a variety of topics.
This app is not without its problems though. For one thing, I really disliked the fact that if you choose to view the full text of an article, you cannot do so within the app. Instead you are taken to Safari where, most of the time, you will view a PDF of the article. It would have also been nice to be able to browse information on a variety of topics without changing your “specialty” in the info section. All of that said, this app is easy to use, and has a lot of good information, and I would recommend it to doctors or also to anyone that likes keeping up on current medical information.
