REVIEW – “Keep up on the constantly moving world of finance!”
I know a lot of people are probably thinking the same thing I did when I first saw this app, “Didn’t Apple already include a stocks app?” Well of course they did, but it does not have anywhere near the depth of information that is included in this free app!
The main screen of this app, where you start when you launch it, contains current information for all of the US and Global markets. Touching any of them brings up the “Real-Time Quotes” page. From here you can view all kinds of information on that stock exchange as well as current news stories, and charts of that stock exchange’s performance using the menu at the top to navigate. The interface that you see being for stock exchanges is the same interface you will see when you go to view individual stocks as well.
At the bottom of the screen, you will see a menu with five different options: “Markets,” “News,” “Movers,” “My Stocks,” and “Get Quotes.” The “Markets” screen is the one you start from, and the “News” screen offers news sorted by pretty much any financial topic that you can think of. This list of topics can be sorted or edited using a simple drag and touch interface. You can even add topics using the “+” icon in the upper left corner from the “edit” interface.
The other tabs at the bottom can be used for a variety of purposes from keeping track of quickly moving stocks, to tracking certain stocks, or even creating a virtual portfolio to see how it performs. Creating a virtual portfolio is extremely simple. You just have to have or set up an AOL screen name and then add stocks to it by touching the “Add to Portfolio or Watchlist” button that is at the bottom of every stock you view.
If you are new to the market, or even if you are experienced and just want good information on the go, I would highly recommend DailyFinance. This app has an excellent combination of a good interface, and enough information without becoming overly cluttered. It is an even bigger plus that this app is free! So what are you waiting for?
