Constitution for iPhone and iPod Touch (Free)
Version v. 1.3
REVIEW – “Keeping The Constitution Close”
Constitution for iPhone and iPod Touch puts the entire Constitution in your pocket. When the app is opened it shows a menu where users can select which part of the Constitution they would like to view. The document is broken down into the preamble, the articles, the signers, the amendments and the proposed amendments.
The articles and the amendments are named, which makes locating what you are looking for easier than guessing: was that article 4 or 5? Once a section has been selected, the text is shown on the screen for your reference. Each entry has a button for “notes”, but other than the preamble, most notes are just what parts of the article have been affected by amendments. Not the type of commentary or explanation I was expecting. The notes for the amendments are much more interesting. These tend to give a little history behind the document. One warning: they do list the days each state ratified the amendment which can take up a lot of space on the screen.
Constitution for iPhone and iPod Touch is straightforward and easy to use. While the notes may not give much insight into the document, the point of this app is just to put the document in our hands and let us come up with the insight.
