REVIEW – “Digital Chocolate releases an app worth Rushing for!”
I have played several games developed by Digital Chocolate, and with every game I have been more impressed with their creativity and attention to detail. This game is definitely no exception.
The loading screen when you start the app is an animation of a fuse burning towards some dynamite. Once you get to the main menu you are presented with the option to play, or customize the game settings, such as sound effects and music. You can also view trivia information, which contains some history about the California Gold Rush.
The main game play is pretty simple. You point and click where you want to move and to dig. When you go back up to the surface to sell your gold you can use it to buy different things like supports, to keep tunnels from collapsing, and various kinds of explosives.
Basically the way the levels work is that you are given a certain amount of “stamina” at the beginning of the level, and you have to try to reach the various goals for that level before it runs out. It really is quite addicting, and there are constantly new things to buy to keep game play interesting.
The only downside is that you can definitely tell that this is a “Lite” version app. There are only two levels in it, and so once you start to really get the hang of it the game is over and you have to buy the full app to continue. As I said before though, this game is a lot of fun and so I’d recommend you check it out and maybe even purchase the full version for just $2.99 in the App Store!
