REVIEW – “A very promising new game!”
This is the first application released by a new company called “BeTaGames”. I have to say that I am looking forward to seeing more titles from them in the future. Aqua Rush is a fast-paced game where you control a goldfish named Blinky as he tries to rescue his little friends from the evil piranhas!
The graphics and sound in this game are excellent. The graphics have a very sharp “cartoony” look that adds to the experience, and one of this games’ best features is that it allows you to decide whether the sound will be on or off every time to you start it up. That means that if you are listening to music or a podcast you will be able to continue listening while you play this game!
Once you get past the opening screens and to the main menu you are given 4 different options: “Start Game,” “Highscores,” “Instructions,” and “Credits.” There also a little toggle button in the bottom right corner of the menu that allows you to select what hand you want to use to control “Blinky.”
Once you start a new game you will find that the controls are extremely simple. There is “control pad” like device in either the bottom right or left corner depending on what you selected at the menu. You use it to move “Blinky” the goldfish around the screen. Your goal is to grab as many fish as you can and bring them back to your little rock “home” where they are safe from the Piranhas.
Like many games this one offers both a local and global high score list. This allows you to compete against yourself, your friends, and the rest of the world! I found it kind of odd that the default “high scores” that are there already are higher than all but one of the list of “global” high scores. It’s not a huge deal, but it’s a little weird and annoying to see the default scores populate your list instead of your own.
You will find out very quickly that while this game may start out fairly easy, the pace quickly changes to fast and furious. The only real issues I had with this app is that the control pad is a little difficult to use sometimes, and that the buttons at the menu are very small and might be hard for some people with large fingers to touch. But besides those small annoyances, for only $0.99 this game is a real bargain! There is also a whole list of features that the developers are working on for future releases that will be free updates! I definitely recommend this app to anyone that enjoys games that require quick thinking and reactions.

INSTRUCTIONS

Use the onscreen D-pad to move Blinky around. Your goal is to fill the upper meter by taking the little fishes to the cave. Take many fishes of the same color at the same time to score more points. Don’t let the piranhas touch you! You have only 3 lives to save as many fishes as you can.
Sometimes you will be asked to take many fishes of a particular color in a short time. If you are not fast you will get into trouble!
