REVIEW – “Laying it all out!”
There are so many poorly done racing games in the app store that when I see another one I don’t usually get very excited about it. That said, this offering from 2XL Games, Inc. has managed to bring a fresh look to racing games.
First off, the intro video is amazingly well done, and wasn’t just an afterthought thrown in. It really builds excitement and expectation for the actual game. Fortunately the game itself does not disappoint! Once you get to the menu you are greeted by a professional looking logo and some music to get you in the mood to go crazy.
There are a few screens advertising the full version of the app as you get started and then you are taken to the menu. From here there are a few options and a high score list, which you can only enter your name into in the full version of the game, but it does at least track your scores.
There are several different control presets, but I found the default controls to be the easiest to use. Once you click on “Race” you will be taken to the track. The graphics as you race are impressive to say the least. I was most impressed with the physics engine. There are signs and objects to the side of the track and hitting them too hard or at a funny angle creates some very realistic looking wrecks.
The game play is fairly simple, and if you are having trouble with the accelerometer being too sensitive or not sensitive enough, you can easily adjust that from the menu. I found that it was much easier after I set the dead zone to be much smaller than the default setting. This allowed me to ease left and right much easier to stay straight down the track.
This is a racing game that I would highly recommend, especially if you have an interest in motocross. The graphics are amazing, and the control scheme is very easy to customize to your preferences. The full version offers a lot more tracks as well as game modes and bikes. If any of this sounds at all intriguing, you should at the very least download this lite version and give it a test run. You won’t be disappointed!
